[NEWS] Explosions near Boston Marathon Finish Line (UPDATE: MIT/Watertown shootout w/ suspects)

O man, ...I will hug my kids a little bit longer tonight ..so horrific. I hope those responsible pay!..also so many innocent people who will never walk again. This news sucks so bad

This is just sickening. Words can't describe....

My thoughts and thoughts and Prayers are with the victims and their families.

What an amazing gesture from those running the marathon that rushed to give blood AFTER running all that time. That is truly a gesture that can't be over looked.

Also, what a job by the Police/FBI/everyone involved for getting to the scene that fast, and preventing further damage. A lot of heroes today.

 

Heard on CBS that there was a Saudi national that was near the area and a man thought he looked suspicious. When the explosion happened and the Saudi man began to run, the guy ran after him a tackled him. Had the police come in a take him into custody. They also said they the man is being very cooperative and denies any doing. Couldn't find any link but CBS correspondents reported this.

Don't know how much truth is in the reporting though.

 

Or the people who lost their legs were standing right next to a bomb that was sitting on the sidewalk.

yeah, i'm not getting how two mailboxes could disintegrate like that without going in all directions, and without an even bigger explosion.

Although that's the same spot as the old Google Maps photo, I'm wondering if the mailbox no longer existed there.

 

Abc says bombs were remotely detonated.

Werent the newton families near the blast? **** imagine if it was a survivor or a sibling of a survivor.

 

Yes, my friend told me Newton families were sitting in a VIP section near the finish line.

This ****ing piece of **** detonated the bomb when the most runners were coming in, I hope he ****ing burns.

 

I apologize if this has been discussed before. Is that a possible motive so far? Some crazy, domestic terrorist targeting those advocating gun control?

 

There is a VIP viewing area right at the finish line, I think it is the grandstands that are visible in a lot of the shots, the bomb looks like it wasn't there but in the area open to the public across from the library. My guess would be the Newtown families were in the VIP area and are likely safe.

 

I got the feeling its more than one person considering the amount of devices that cnn is reporting

 

It could have still been in the mailbox...what i meant was, it sounded like the reporter was implying there was "shrapnel" as part of the bomb, and not that the bomb exploded and created shrapnel, although the latter could also be true.

Looks like the people standing between the explosion and the runners, in yellow, were saved by the large blue banners, if the bomb was inside the mailbox.

We simply don't know. That was the first thought that popped into my head when wondering who did this, but we haven't a clue. Could be anyone and any radical organization. We will find out who did this, however.

As bad as this is it could've been worse. While most runners were coming in around the 4 hour mark the biggest group of spectators had left already since the winners crossed more than an hour before. Even though the rate of runners crossing the finish line at the 4 hour mark they are not tightly bunched up but spread out. I'm guessing that most of the injuries are among the spectators and not among the runners.

 

Always a possibility but imo further down the line. Personally im going to visit some conspiracy sites because its honestly one of the ways i cope with effed up things like this. Its hard to believe people would be capable of this crap and the only solace i have is a delusional thought that maybe they were brainwashed by some secret cabal.

 

Simply awful. Prayers to all the victims involved and hope that the perpetrators are quickly brought to justice.
