That's some crazy shrapnel. That metal is thick as hell, and hard to break into. (a friend told me)

Not sure if this was posted earlier here in the thread but there's a video out on Youtube showing the blast.

It isn't the same exact spot, but it's clear that those are pieces of a mailbox on the second pic.

Probably. Otherwise these terrorist have never heard of turbotax and the fact that most Americans filed their taxes months ago.

If it is in fact the same location that fence could have been put up way after google came and took a street view. It's not like those things are real time.

Looks like a small-timer. Could have been one guy or a few. Glad it's not worse.

The best information is in the few hours after a horrible tragedy.

I firmly believe the report earlier of people seeing two men with bombs strapped on their bodies. 2 fatalities confirmed just supports that observation, IMO

The information immediately following an event, especially a tragedy, is the absolute worst and least accurate.

Sound like a BS or a person just imagining stuff. It was obviously a bomb in the mail box if you even care enough to look at the pictures. Why would a terrorist(s) need to commit suicide with situation like this?

I'm sure Harris County would be more than happy to try whoever did it if Massachusetts insists.

    But seriously, pretty terrible.

Correct. I just got an email from my friend, who finished in 4:02 (at age 65, not that anything like that matters now).

He was gathered with his family (what I was afraid of), but in the street beyond the finish line and at a safe distance when the bombs went off.

Four hours is a very respectful marathon time so lots of people were still finishing, and lots of families were gathered to see their runners come in. :(

BPD says there is no bombing suspect in custody - man in common seems unrelated to the bombings.

And I cannot confirm if this man is a bombing suspect or not

Again, that is a white baseball cap in my photo. It is not a hood or turban.

Probably that mailbox save alot of people's lives. If it was outside the box could have been much worst.

For what it's worth, yes, those fences are temporary and they set them up all along that street to serve booze legally within the business perimeter.
