So if you have DirecTV and the Rockets are on NBATV, will you be able to view the games in Houston or will they still be blacked out because of the god foresaken CSN scandal?
Nope, they will be blacked out. However, I don't think we'll see that happening. I just have a feeling we'll be on either ESPN or TNT.
Blackouts only occur when there's a conflict with the local broadcast. Local broadcasts don't cover the playoffs, right?, so there are no blackouts.
I believe there is still local broadcasts for the first round, 2nd round and beyond, its all national. Recollects the memories of the Rockets/Blazers Game 6 in '09 where people outside Houston couldn't watch it till halftime because of the Celtics/Bulls game went to triple overtime. If you were outside of Houston, you were screwed watching the first half since TNT didn't have a backup plan on lets say TBS, like ESPN would with ESPN 2.
Unless you're lucky enough to not be on network television that night. NBATV will carry games during the weeknights.
Do you have an internet connected DirecTV receiver and an Android device? The DirecTV Android app live streams NBA TV when you're on your home wireless network and totally ignores blackout regulations. It's how I've gotten away with watching NBATV Rockets games. I've also used a VPN all season. Haven't missed a single game.
Now that is what i'm talking about. Good information Scionxa - repped. Hopefully we don't play on Mon-Wed nights during the 1st round.
I know this might be a little off-topic, but I came across this article earlier today (not sure if posted elsewhere). Though everyone has been bashing Comcast and CSN (myself included), it seems that the story is much different. http://houston.cbslocal.com/2013/04/14/mayor-parker-should-follow-the-money-what-you-dont-know-about-comcast-astros-rockets-negotiations/
I know John. While his POV may be correct, he's gonna side with the team. Either way, I'm tired of this. How is it 2013 and I'm no better off for playoff viewing than I was in 1995?
Do NBAtv playoff games have their own broadcast crew, or do they leach off of local ones like the regular season? If it's the latter (which I believe is the case), it will be blacked out.
