Now reported there was indeed a bomb that went off at the JFK Library, no injuries.

Last picture is sick, didn't expect a regular news site to post something like this.

Nothing is credible until the next day. Twitter posts are made to get you to click on links.

NY Post is either way ahead of the curve or they are being pretty reckless.

Looking at the size of the explosions though they don't appear to be that big but more like large pipe bombs. I am not an expert but given how many bombs that the Unibomber made I think one individual could be responsible. Also consider Breivik in Oslo made a fairly large bomb, remotely detonated it without other help.

I think it is way to early to even speculate who did this and what their motivations might be.
I did it in the Mid-90's and there was little security. There were a lot of cops doing crowd control and at Copley square where the finish line was they had barriers up set up to guide the runners and areas for the runners to recuperate but other than that I don't remember any other security measures. I heard after 911 they had set up more security at the finish line and had more control on access to that area but other than that don't know.

As I said earlier though it is almost impossible to control security along a large race course. There are so many people along the course with a lot of stuff. I could easily see someone getting a bomb in in a back pack, duffel bag or cooler.

Those are two massively sweeping generalizations that simply aren't true.

BREAKING: Boston police commissioner urges people to stay indoors, not congregate in large groups

OK, that sent a chill up my spine.

I'd engage this, but it's probably best in a separate thread in D&D at some point.

Yeah I was at Boston College in the morning and walked to a T station at Reservoir. There are cops literally every couple of feet making sure everything was going fine. The fact that they reacted so quickly after the bomb went off (I got evacuated from a T station within 5 minutes after it went down) shows that they were on their game. I ****ing hope the bomber is dead.
