Amen. A co-worker just tried to politicize this tragedy saying that this is an engineered distraction. I exited the IM window.

Police Commissioner just confirmed that the event at the JFK Library was a bomb. Asking everyone to go home

 

When I ran part of the Marathon was well before 9/11 and I just took the T out to Newton took off my sweats, put them in a backpack and just ran it with the backpack on. When I ran the Bay To Breakers a couple of years ago in San Francisco I also ran it with a backpack on carrying my sweats. I can't imagine any major race from now on will let people run it with a back pack on.

How to deal with the crowds along the course though is going to be a whole different problem issue as there are so many people with bags coolers and other containers all along the race course.

Could be muslim fundamentalists.

I wouldn't discount domestic terrorists, but it doesn't seem like an appropriate target for domestic terrorism. And, given the number of devices, I have to think it's from an organization, not a loner.

Btw, anyone know what kind of security they were running for the Marathon? I'm sure they recognized they were a soft target with a lot of people and too much ground to cover. I don't really fault them too much for not being able to stop the bombing, but I am kinda wondering was it hard or easy to plant these bombs?

I was at Kenmore station (1 station away from Copley) when the bomb went off, immediately got evacuated and walked home with my friends while watching ambulances and police armor vehicles/cars go by. Stay safe everybody.
