I think everyone would agree that Jeremy Lin's production and skill level is overall pretty good now even as an inexperienced young player, and has the potential to be somewhere between very good (all star level) or great over the course of his career.

You can compare players and argue about it all day, but the production speaks for itself. Id personally stay away from comparisons unless you just want to push peoples buttons on here. Just my 2 cents... carry on.

I do have to say that the whole "best backcourt" tag-line is a bit played out IMO.

Technically, Lebron plays the 3, but on the court is the primary ball-handler and play-maker. He's the PG, and Wade definitely plays like a 2 guard. That might be the greatest backcourt ever if you take away the technicality of scorecard positions.

Do you actually know how tall Isaiac Thomas and Nate Robinson are and what it means playing in NBA??

Anytime they are guarding ANYONE in NBA is a mismatch! They have to give up 5-7 in. in height. This is like asking Beverley guarding SF's every single game. They are not physically capable of becoming a good defender, no matter how hard they try. They are huge liability on defense.

To place them ahead of Lin b/c they average slightly more points is purely ignorant and close to trolling, especially coming from a Rockets fan.

You can go to a Bulls or Kings forum and poll them if Nate or Isaiac is better than Lin. Go ahead and prove me wrong.

You and ESPN are so correct that they have the same production OFFENSIVELY. Too bad bball is play at two ends of the court. More often than not, they give up the same, if not more, on the other end. Overall they are just not productive. And yes, that includes Spud Webb and Muggsy Bogues, just to name a few.

Hence why the tag-line is pointless in today's NBA. Positions are more or less just a formality.

I think Lins ceiling is limited to being just all star potential. I don't think it will be any higher than that. But yes you are right production speaks for itself.

Yeah. My thinking though is that if he is going to make that jump from borderline all-star to superstar status its going to be based on what kind of performances he has in the playoffs later in his career. Every once in awhile the guy just does some remarkable things. Not to sound cheesy, but he sort of has that "plays with alot of heart" montra.

Based on what he did last year, and at times this year, you can see that he does have the potential to have some historic performances in his career that could justify the label somewhat.

However, consistently dominating over an 82 game season... no way. He's not that kind of a player. I think his career will ultimately be judged on the kind of performances he brings in the postseason over his career.

Hmm yeah true. Just last night I was thinking to myself the PG position is so ridiculously deep. Like you have a lot of really good guards that will never really get increased recognition because of how deep the position is. Plus Lin is in the West which is packed with high quality guards vs the East. Like if people agree that Lin is an above average guard so in the 12-15 range then that means there are a bunch of other players who are better than him but are also in or close to his age group.

So ultimately I think you are right he will have to really distinguish himself in the post season. Kind of like how Rondo really made name for himself against the Lakers in the year he won a title. That is kind of the reason why I want to face the Spurs over Denver. I feel like our guys have a better chance at showing out & getting that national spotlight against San Antonio than compared to Denver. And honestly I don't think I can handle a summer of "oh James Harden got shut down by Iggy he can't be a true number one option in the post season" talk or

Geez.... yes I can see the threads already queued up and ready to go.

Also, as good as they are, I would also love to see an OKC/Hou matchup. What great drama, and those teams always battle each other to the death.

As good as OKC is, they still aren't as disciplined a team as a SA, or even Denver. I feel like they would get in an offensive battle with Houston where it could ultimately be must watch TV.

OMG no I would hate that matchup. Harden gets way to hyped for that team. Plus they know his game very well. Also the length & athleticism would give us fits. Also there would be WAY to much hype surrounding that matchup. I can read the headlines now ughh.

Maybe when our team is a little more seasoned then I will be excited for it. But until then no thanks. If the Rockets get Pau this summer I would love a HOU vs OKC battle. Lin Harden Pau Asik Parsons vs Russ KD Serge.Perk Thabo. That would be a fun battle. OMG & can you imagine if D-mo were to have Pau as his mentor? That would be so good for the kid.
