Dwightmare is what keeps the Lakers running, they don't even need Kobe at this point, they have an inside outside post game. He's a rebounding + shotblocking machine. The offense and defense is running through him now, and even Tim Duncan couldn't contain him because OMG ... Dwight was making his FT's.
Even if a player shoots 50 percent from the line, them going to the line is still a good shot. Statistics show that offenses have a much harder time scoring when they have to inbound after a made freethrow for some reason.

True, the East didn't have that Lakers/Spurs level contender. Still, "didn't win squat"? That Nets team had less talent than CP3 Hornets. They had no business getting to the finals twice in a row and even making it somewhat competitive vs. the Spurs. They couldn't even make the playoffs in the East before Kidd. I wouldn't expect any point guard of today to do better with that team.
the reffing was pretty clean, a cpl ticky touch each way, don't think they even caused a free throw from a bad call in the whole game, and noone was in foul trouble so it had as close to zero impact as you can get. The lakers just rained 3's in the 4th and everyone but the Duncan on the spurs played like garbage.
