Is there a more valuable trading piece in the league right now? Way to go Morey. Outperforms his contract by a good margin but it's still meaty enough to where you don't have to throw in that much filler, or don't have to receive as much in return.
I love Omer. I know if we get Howard, he most likely will be traded but I would still love to keep him.
Simple. Give Howard as much of the max as possible and he will be our answer at the 4, Omer holds the 5 and heres our starting lineup: 1- Lin 2- Harden 3- Parsons 4- Howard 5- Asik Try to tell me that is not deadly.
= 0 rebounds and 0 in paint points for opposing team lol and also avg 50% free throw shooting for the whole starting 5 hahaha
What would be more deadly is having our rookie PFs (I'm looking at you Tjones) continue to develop, have Asik come off the bench and we have 48 minutes of good defense. Asik would also be able to become the serious shotblocker he was on the Bulls without fouling out.
Lin and Harden both drive the lane alot. Not saying I'm against that line-up at all, but it is going to be completely congested.
Frankly I say keep Asik, as I am not sold on Howard being a game good enough of a defender to warrant us locking ourselves into another big money contract at that position given how much production we've been getting out of our younger group of big men.
I don't see Parsons or Asik staying long, value way too high. Parsons is a keeper, he seems like the glue of this team and for what it needs you won't find too much of an upgrade at the spot. His synergy right now is invaluable. Hope DM reads the boards. Asik, I won't be too upset about leaving though...
Asik has proven he is a starting center in this league. Posters saying he should 'come off the bench' are really disrespecting (imo) his value to the game. I hate to think of him as an asset (while technically true) and I hope the Rockets keep him and the core four. We need to stop flipping players like they're burgers and stick with players that show tremendous upside and allow them to build some chemistry. I get that Dwight is an incredible talent and 'probably' makes the Rockets a better team (on paper he makes the Rockets a contender) but one CANNOT say that definitively given: 1) His injury history 2) His attitude/primadonna personality. How would that mesh with the Harden (and *cough* Lin) led Rockets? Hurt Orlando down the stretch. 3) Did he make the lakers better? If he's so great, why aren't the Lakers #1 (yeah yeah--chemistry, age, injuries, etc but still). So obviously getting Dwight on your team, no matter how alluring, isn't without its risks. So does having primadonna questinonable attitude Dwight for 50-60 games make the Rockets a better team than Asik for 82 (assuming D12 gets some type of injury, which is almost a certainty at this point in his career)? It's actually a tough question to answer. Dwight makes the Rockets a better team ON PAPER but his promise has shown to have flaws and I'm just cautioning that we might be sorry for what we wish for always pining after the super star talent, yet the grass isnt always greener over there. This is one of my favorite rockets teams since the 90s glory days and i'd love to see the team grow together and for Duray Moryel and the FO to give them another year. I mean it is amazing that one of the youngest teams in the league is ranked the #6 seed in the competitive west--newly assembled. That is freaking awesome. Lets not be so quick to tear apart a good thing. my 2 cents
I wholeheartedly agree; this team has serious chemistry. Let's keep them together and see what happens. At least one more year. You can always go for another max player later. Not sold on Howard any more.
Dwight doesn't like PnR, one of our primary and most effective offensive play. Defensively, he's a boost. On that note, I'd rather have Millsap. He doesn't need the ball to be effective and lives off on scraps. He's a good rebounder and defensively, he's up to the task. Reserve the extra money for Chandler's and other key players future contracts.
Nah, theres a reason teams don't have two huge 7 footers on the court at the same time. Spacing plays a big part on offense and things would be completely congested in this scenario. If we were to sign Howard, I would think we'd trade Omer for more of a stretch four power forward. I'd honestly rather just stick with what we have at this point, things are just going to go up from here and the team is already at the 6 seed in it's first year rebuilding.
