Dwight is dominating Duncan right now! and you don't want this guy?? I really like Asik but he has no where near the strength and post moves Howard has. and this is with Howard "hurt"

He didn't want to be traded to us, to play with some exceptional specimens as kyle lowry and luis scola, lol, in fact reports said orlando was about to trade him to us at just that point.

He had been requesting a trade to new jersey all year, and then continued to, and then continued to, and then to LA.

Are you serious? I'm not from Texas man, can you explain the math for me please?

The Cat - The difference between that situation and this one is that he still had the Bird rights with LA. If he comes to Houston, he won't, and he'll have to leave that money on the table (I may be mistaken, please correct me if I am).

I missed a lot of the Howard saga. Why did he pick LA over Dallas and Brooklyn then?

#1 How is it Dwight's team now, Kobe will be back next season.

#2 By "we" I assume you don't mean the Rockets, because they would kill to get him.

He didn't 'pick' them, he was traded to LA. If he had his choice, according to all reports, he would have gone to Brooklyn.

Can we play 2 centers? Just like the twin-tower days? I like watching that combo. I think it's doable since both Asik and Dwight can run.

Brooklyn was pretty much out of the picture when the signed Joe Johnson and extended Humphries. The deal was taking too long and the Nets moved in another direction.

Dwight wanted to team up in a big market and Dan Fegan (his agent) wanted to get it on it as well. Most everyone outside of Bucher and ESPN could agree that the Rockets had the better pieces and more diverse assets to net Howard over the competition.

Dwight's PR campaign was over the internet constantly and spreading misinformation to smokescreen the deal. 4 team blockbusters rarely ever happen. 4 teams had to agree to move pieces to have Dwight move to LA. I can say with probably around 85% certainty that D12 had a hand in going where he went.

Rob Hennigan, the rookie GM of the Magic couldn't afford to rub a powerful agent in the wrong way and not get Dwight were he wanted to be. Something I don't believe Morey is afraid to do.

I like Simmons, he's surprisingly entertaining on TV. I guess it's not that different from podcasting though.

Anyway, this is clearly speculation on his part so I don't think it holds a lot of water. Dwight still holds all the cards, and we know he wants to play in a big market and wants to get paid for 5 years. Maybe he'll have a change of heart if the Lakers get swept in the first round, but I doubt it.

If Hoopsworld says it, it must be true!

    Signed,

Dwight Howard of the Brooklyn Nets and LeBron James of the New York Knicks/Chicago Bulls

He had a hand in going there because LA was the "best of the rest". I agree that Orlando made the move because they were afraid of Fegan, but the assets (or lack thereof) that Brooklyn and Dallas offered were complete non-starters. LA and the Bynum package (via Philly/Denver) was the best realistic option.

The point is that Dwight wasn't pining for LA. It was his third choice, at best. It just happened to be the most realistic trade partner of his "accepted" destinations, so he went with it. He was not dying to go to Hollywood, nor did he necessarily want to be the next Wilt/Kareem/Shaq. It just happened to be the only realistic option for him to leave Orlando.

Not sure if it's been discussed in great detail, but how do you think McHale and Howard's relationship will be? I could see it getting rocky since McHale is strict and doesn't hesitate to bench underachieving players. And Howard has a history of getting coaching fired... oh god, hope the Rockets don't turn into an episode of 90210

McHale will slap the **** outta howard if he tries that orlando bs here.

McHale isn't SVG he is a hall of fame big man who is very much respected around the league.

If dwight has issues with mchale he'd just cement his image as a locker room cancer. But seriously though coach is like this team's father and he OWNS that locker room.

    I can't understand the logic.

Most posters do not want to sign a top 10 player and still arguably the best center this season when playing injured,
but are drooling over the potential of Smith, DMO, Tjones and Trob along with Pat2 and Morris.
And who can forget Demarcus Cousins....

And dont make me laugh in comparing Asik and Dwight.....

Oh, and for those that think Cap Space can score you points, grab a rebound or throw an assists, reality check, they do not....

because winning isn't just about talent and statistics. basketball is a team game where chemistry is just as important. allen iverson was a top 10 player in his prime, how many rings does he have? how many unhappy coaches and teammates did he have?

Cap Space was traded by the Miami Heat for the best player in the league.

Umm, Iverson lost because there were better players than him who were playing with better teammates than him. Chemistry is only important once you have the talent.
