lakers are done only if howard leaves next season. lakers will be a good team with just nash, howard and pau, book it.

They are done in the sense they have zero chance to do anything next year except barely qualify for the playoffs. Without Kobe, that is highly dubious.

That is, unless you are drunk on the Kool-Aid that says the Lakers are a better team without Kobe.

Also consider Nash is just about done. He might do the Lakers a favor by retiring instead of collecting his $9 million.

Why does everyone think that a ballstopper that takes half the shots is a good thing on a team with the best frontline in the league? Have you ever played with a ballhog?

It really shouldn't be up for debate but a lot of people get their basketball knowledge from Sportscenter.

They're shooting 37 percent, have more turnovers than assists, with Blake having the game of his life, while Tony Parker is sleep walking. Calm yourself. Any time a team has an injury to a star player, there gonna come out with extra motivation and purpose to rally behind the cause.

Yeah but when it happens with Kobe the players seem to stay "motivated" indefinitely, as opposed to other guys where the "motivations" lasts maybe a game if that. Why didn't the Lakers get "motivated" when Magic had to retire? That was way more heartbreaking than the Kobe thing. How about when Bird got injured? Or even Cleveland when Bron sat out? Why only Kobe?

Motivated indefinitely? They got blown out against the Suns without Kobe a week ago. The Rockets were winning without Harden, does that mean we're better without him. The Celtics took the Magic to game 7 without KG in 09, better without him too? Spurs winning without Parker, better too. i can go on and on. Stop with your stupid agenda, you come off as the jest of the dish, with your constant bickering about Kobe/Lakers. Fool.

Look at those teams records without their stars, and look at the Lakers without Kobe. That's an 80 game sample when he was on contending teams and the teams were just as good without him. You can't say that about anyone else.

The last time Kobe was out for an extended period the Lakers beat 4 playoff teams and only lost to contender Boston on a buzzer beater. This year yeah, they lost @phx on a 4 in 5 nights but they also won @ind which was their only good road win all year.

Face it, Kobe is an overrated shot jacker. Use your head and stop relying on Sportscenter for your bball "knowledge".

These guys are so convinced that this has to be trolling because no one would ever question an alleged all time great being a non- or negative- factor for his team. But I am the only one using facts here. The numbers speak for themselves. It's common sense too because basketball is about moving the ball to get efficient shots, which is the antithesis of the kobe system. Unfortunately Kobe has been blessed with great teammates who have bailed him out his entire career, creating this false and dangerous perception that one on one shotjacking is winning basketball.

Haha good point. But I don't think they are trolling... They just don't really understand basketball.

Why are you acting like Kobe doesn't 'use' his teammates? Where is this coming from. Does he bring the ball up the court and shoot triple team fadeaways? Sure he takes tough shots, but running the offense is what he does. Been doing it since Nash has been out going 6-1 in their last 7 games. You can say what you want, clown. But the "fact" is that he's been a winner his whole career.

No, he wan't a winner when he had talent comparable to what other stars have had for most of their careers.

Kobe monopolizes the ball and he's such an egomaniac he wont compromise on thus even when it's for the good of the team. Making Nash into Derek Fisher was one of the dumbest things you could ever do with this team and it would only happen with Kobe, simply because he wanted to be the guy making the decisions. In '04 the Lakers had an easy route to the title since the Pistons had no answer for Shaq. But Kobe couldn't take missing out on another Finals MVP and selfishly dominated the ball there too. Again, this would only happen with Kobe.

The guy is a bigger Iverson with worse defense, and the fact that his teams do great without him only validates this.

The numbers for the Rockets indicate that the Rockets actually have a higher point differential with James Harden off the floor. Clearly, Houston would be a better team without James Harden.
