I agree, this is more likely scenario. And it is fine by me. I don't want him any more.

I doubt that next season will be his last (Kobe). I think the injury will change his mentality on that. He will want to show the world he can come back and play well after this notorious injury.

By this logic, why did Howard object to coming to Houston last summer? It would've been "Dwight's team" (this was pre-Harden) and the Rockets had cap room to sign future free agents. The Rockets would've given him the absolute max along with a gold mine of Chinese endorsement money. In many ways, what the Lakers can offer Dwight this summer is a very similar pitch to what the Rockets offered him last summer. It didn't work. Why not?

Hint: DWIGHT DOESN'T WANT "HIS" TEAM. I'm not sure how he can be any more clear about that.

I agree. He wanted to go to Brooklyn to play with Deron Williams. He wanted to go to Dallas to play with Dirk Nowitzki. He was ecstatic to play in LA because he had Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol.

He doesn't want to be the man. He was fine in Orlando for a time because guys like Turkoglu, Jameer Nelson, and Rashard Lewis stepped up for a season or two. When it all fell apart, he realized he didn't like having to carry the load. I suppose thats what LeBron and Bosh felt as well before they ended up leaving as well.

In Houston, he has James Harden, already being hailed as a top 10 talent and a scoring, yet unselfish guard. Howard and Harden will be a deadly 1-2 punch. With them two, as well as a strong supporting cast (Lin, Parsons, Delfino, Smith, whoever we trade Asik for), we can win in this league.

    DH+Asik can dominate all rebounds.

I don't care what argument we have to make to other "superstars".

    1. WE HAVE JAMES HARDEN AND A SQUAD THAT IS GOOD ENOUGH TO MAKE THE 6 SEED IN THE WEST. NOT THE EASY EAST. THE WEST.

    2. WE'RE DOING THIS WITH A PAYROLL THAT CAN EASILY SUSTAIN ADDING ANOTHER MAX CONTRACT TO OUR TEAM

    3. OUR GM'S NOT AN IDIOT AND NEVER GIVES OUT CAP CRIPPLING CONTRACTS

If said NBA "superstar", regardless of who he is, cannot get it through his thickass brain, especially after I went through the trouble of using all caps, that we are his BEST option to choose when it comes to winning championships and leaving a legacy behind, then **** him. And **** his posse too. We'll get behind another "superstar". It don't mean no thang

Good to know we have BS and JVG in the ESPN camp with respect for Houston.

Magic & Jalen the only reason the show is relevant.

Being on ESPN is the only reason the show is relevant. It's their NBA panel. They'd still be relevant with a line-up of Richard Simmons, Robin Williams, Ben Stein and a donkey.

It's just him speculating like any one of us. He has no deep insight into Dwight's mind.

You don't know the Laker team culture. It's not Dwight's team until Kobe says it's Dwight's team.

Yea, but just because a show's on a major network doesn't guarantee viewers. Magic & Jalen give the show actual credibility. Not sure what's Bill Simmons purpose other than goofy comments.

Get Howard in the summer....then trade Asik to Hawks for Josh Smith. We're going to be elite for sure.

Everything is falling into place. The media has been infiltrated. Quick, Morey go hire Dominic Cobb away from playing in the backyard with his two kids. We need him to mastermind a 3rd level inception on Dwight Howard.

OK, I get the difference between Howard and Asik... and one would hope Howard will be better next year having another off-season to get his back well.

Still, if you're going to give out a max contract, is Howard for Asik the most efficient choice? I guess it depends some on what you could get for Omer, but are we talking about it so often because Howard is the only top dollar guy that might be available?

It's like going to the hardware store that has tons of push mowers but only one bright, shiny riding mower. Is it the best riding mower available? Is it the best one for your lawn? Who knows because it is the only one you can buy right now. I'm not anti-DH but I am pro-patience. The Rockets are a young team with huge potential and every tweak from here on out has to be solid.

I like Asik and don't mind the team sticking with him, but he leaves 10 points on the floor almost every night because he doesn't catch the ball cleanly and he doesn't always go up strong. Both of those things are strengths to Howard's game.
