How did TJ look on D tonight? Does he seem more settled? Does he still look lost out there? Need the info
i didnt watch today's game, only saw his stats and the put back jam. he looked solid the past few games tho
Better than DMo and TRob in my opinion. In fact I think he's the second best big defender we got behind Asik. Smith cannot defend without fouling. TJ did get 4 fouls but he was working and defending Marc on multiple post ups. Did the best job of any of our bigs not named Asik.
He looked like he can't handle guarding Randolph or Gasol -- but who can? Especially a rookie. Otherwise he looks really good out there, especially considering how little court time he's seen this year. He definitely has the athleticism and strength to play power forward in the NBA. He has great confidence on the court, and he does not seem lost on defense very often -- but he plays a little out of control on offense and has difficulty understanding how to be on the same page with his team mates on that side of the court. I love his rebounding and effort though. I think he looks like a solid pro though. I think he could end up having a career along the lines of Clifford Robinson.
Thanks for the feedback you guys. A Robinson type of career would be very respectable. I think his ceiling may be a little higher though.
My assessment of Jones: Sometimes, he looks lost on offense, but I think that might be a chemistry issue. He can shoot, but his shot tends to look ugly. If he can fix this, I think he can shoot even better. His dribbling and passing ability has potential to be above average for a power forward. This stems from him playing some point guard in high school. He is already the best offensive rebounder on the team. I never expected him to attempt as many putbacks as a guy like T-Rob, but this is a welcome change to what we've had at the position. If anyone questioned his fire or desire, I think that's been answered lately. The guy has been playing with a purpose lately. His defense is starting to look good. The best of the three youngsters easily. He can put a body on you, but he's been overpowered by the big bodies. He is decent in the blocked shots and steals departments, too. Overall, I'm very impressed with him. He's come on strong, and it's very impressive. He might be my new favorite Rocket. Just exciting to see a guy put in work in the D-league and then come up and blossom. I know this changes every week, but I think he has the most potential of any of our bigs. Recently, he's been playing like a rich man's Thomas Robinson. Doing the things that Robinson does, but probably better, and bringing a little offense at the same time. I am horrible with comparisons, so I won't really give one.
He's got the physical tools and demonstrated talent to become just as capable as Josh Smith in the league. If only he got more playing time... while everyone was pining for D-Mo, Lamb and White I was silently cheering on for Terrence Jones as he was clearly the most NBA ready player amongst our rooks. There's no surprise why other organisations were expressing interest in Terrence Jones over summer league. Sure he doesn't flash their crazy talent but he's a solid player who should have been given playing time earlier.
TJ is 252lbs so he should be able to hold his own down low. An off-season of working on his legs should help a lot. He's just a young guy for one thing. I expect he'll further develop.
I just can't believe it took the last ten games for Jones to get some play time. If he played earlier he'd be even better
I disagree with those who said he didn't defend Gasol and Randolph well. The defense in the 4th quarter was solid and he was a big part of that. He made them work hard just to get a pass in the post and when they eventually did, he defended admirably. They only had 30 points between them so he was doing something right. His defense took a big step forward compared to what he did against Scola the previous game. Huge improvement! So much so I was actually shocked. I thought he needed a whole summer of work to be able to do what he did last game. He certainly held his own out there. Can't believe the chatter that we nearly gave up on him. Would have been a Tobias Harris level gaffe in my opinion. This guy showed a long time ago that he could play and should have gotten a chance.
Jones looks really good out there. The only thing I would say is that he needs to look for his shot when he has an open look a little bit more. There are several instances when he is wide open for a three or a mid range shot and he's looking to pass first.
Tjones has been great, I rate him above DMO after watching them both play. T Jones is stronger and plays defence and rebounds better , which is what the rocket needs. His shot looks really slow, but that'll come with time and practice. He has great length and legit height, which TRob doesn't have...
DMO has legit post game, but the problem is one little push from the defender and he loses his centre of balance, then all the fakes, hooks jumpshot isn't going to help him as he falls to the side on his azz... I think once he gets older and stronger and a bit more range of his J, he'll be really good....I see him being a legit 15ppg player in time...
Midrangej. How come you say Trob has no length or height when him and tjones have identical height with Trob having the longer wingspan? Just facts, why spread false info? If you don't like Trob fine but all this undersized bs is blown out of proportions. If Trob is undersized the. So is tjones and Greg smith. Also why are we all so sure that dmo has this great post game. Andrew bogut and Chris Kaman had good post game coming out of college while also being way bigger than dmo is and have never developed into a legit post up threat. Just cause the guy has shown a hook shot here and there doesn't mean he has legit post game. Honestly dmo hasn't posted up all year his only moves have been dribbling actions the lane swinging his back to the basket and coming back around to shot a baby hook. Not really a post up in my book. I guess my main problem with this board is the amount of love patience dmo gets to develop while Trob gets none. Dmos been playing pro ball and is the same age technically he should have less room to improve going by this logic. It just blows my mind the hate Trob gets on this site. When Trob is the best pf we have on the roster next yr I don't want to see any of you Trob doubters on his nuts stick with dmo and his glorified post game that's non existent.
trob is like 6'7. when they were on the court at the same time, the difference in height and size is noticeable.
Trob is not 6'7, he measured 6'75 w/o shoes and 6'9 in shoes with a 7'3.75 wingspan 8'10 standing reach. Same measurements as Klove and josh smith at the draft. Tjones 6'8 w/o shoes 6'9.5 in shoes. 7'2 wingspan. 8'9 standing reach. These are just facts look it up, I don't care what your eyes want you to see that's your problem. Not to mention Trob has the far superior vertical and lane agility times. Technically Trob is the bigger player if you include standing reach and wingspan. It's all good I get it ppl dont like Trob for whatever reason but I'm Not gonna let you ppl on the board spread this undersized bs on this website and influences other ppl with lies.
