Lot more people who work an hour or less than I expected. I'm in that boat too. Had entire weeks where I would do absolutely nothing. Most people on my floor are probably working 4-5 hours in fact. The one thing that sucks about it is time just doesn't move. At first there's a lot of things you could do, but you hit the end of the internet (the permitted internet atleast) really fast. And then the day is just a drag. It doesn't help that sometimes you get home and again have nothing to do. Good to know its a common problem though. I never would have guessed in college that the "easy job with high pay" actually existed.
I work in food service and you better believe that I'm doing something productive every minute I'm there. I may be terrible at what I do, but I earn that $7.25/hr.
A lot more than I did since finally getting my promotion last September. Before then, I literally did about 8 hours of work a week because that's all I had. Now, I'm pretty much busy all day which is why my posting has gone down (I know....you would never guess.....). New position is much more high-profile (and stressful) than my old position. I'm constantly having to set up and run meetings with all kinds of higher-ups in the company. Also, I'm the go-to guy for a lot of our outside broker dealers. Before, I was much more of a behind-the-scenes kind of guy.....but not anymore. Hell, I had to actually wear a suit to work last week. First time in over 10 years with the company.... But I've got 3 raises and a bonus in the last 12 months, so I've got that going for me....which is nice. More money is always a good thing - especially when I still get to leave at 4 every day.
