Kobe is great but he isn't top 10 let alone top 5.

I assume he meant top 5 shooting guard, which is debatable.

Well, if you want to put him lower, I guess it's your prerogative, but I think given his body of work it's fair to put him in the top 5.

Just how bad could this be? A realistic worse case scenario?

I don't care what anyone in Houston thinks of Kobe, the man is a man among boys. The only things a man has is his will and legacy. If there is one man, ONE MAN, with as much drive, as much passion, as much will to win as Jordan, it'd be Kobe. Yes, Kobe can never topple Jordan; yes, Kobe was not as athletic, nor was he was skilled and efficient, but, as Jordan said, they were both cursed.

Only the greatest top 5 players in the world bear this curse on their shoulders, and Kobe is one of them.

Let's face it. For the Lakers, it's been an injury ridden season. This was the final straw.

The Lakers won't win a championship without Kobe.

his career, if it is a full tear, it's a minimum of 12 months pretty much, and very few players ever return from such an injury without being a shadow of their former self.

Not a particular fan of Lakers or Kobe, but this guy have tremendous heart, guts and balls to come out, guaranteed a playoff spot, played like crazy, then goes down fighting in a injury like that.

Kobe's injury cost him his team (to Dwight) and almost certainly any chance at become all time leading scorer. Plus, as crazy as it sounds, he was probably going to get another huge payday. He'll come back, of course, but his production, his minutes, and his paychecks are all going to take a severe hit. I think the Lakers resign him, but his days of being alpha dog are almost certainly over. Plus his next contract won't have a no trade clause, so he'll have to tow the line or risk being shipped out.

But if you want to puke, here's this. Kobe sits out next season and Gasol gets traded for assets. The Lakers lose 50 games and win the number one pick putting them in a position to draft Andrew Wiggins.

This is sad. Reminds me of Barkley's injury.

This should never happen to any player. This is no way to end a career while players like TMac fake injuries.
