I understand you don't think highly of Lin, and I concur, he only showed up in the first quarter and part of the 4th.

    But Harden has been terrible.

shooting sub 40 percent from the field since the beginning of March.

If thats not bricklaying I don't know what is.

Add crappy defense and high TO's and IMO, he's just not playing very well.

I'm sorry, I don't buy that. Too often people assume that just because a guy hit a couple shots he must be "hot". There's no evidence for this, and people have looked for it.

    http://www.nytimes.com/1988/04/19/science/hot-hands-phenomenon-a-myth.html

[rquoter]To test the theory, the researchers got the records of every shot taken from the field by the Philadelphia 76ers over a full season and a half. When they looked at every sequence of two shots by the same player - hit-hit, hit-miss, miss-hit or miss-miss - they found that a hit followed by a miss was actually a tiny bit likelier than a hit followed by a hit.

    ...

Indeed, in separate research with men's and women's basketball teams at Cornell University, players took shots from a fixed distance. Both the shooter and an observer were allowed either to bet a nickel on the next shot or to raise the bet to a dime. Both players and observers tended to raise their bets after successful shots, hoping to take advantage of their sense of when a shooter was hot. But there proved to be no correlation between the dime bets and the shots that followed.[/rquoter]

    http://www.nature.com/ncomms/journal/v2/n12/full/ncomms1580.html

[rquoter]Here we show, using the sequences of field goal attempts made by professional basketball players, that the outcome of even a single field goal attempt has a considerable effect on the rate of subsequent 3 point shot attempts, in line with standard models of reinforcement learning. However, this change in behaviour is associated with negative correlations between the outcomes of successive field goal attempts. These results indicate that despite years of experience and high motivation, professional players overgeneralize from the outcomes of their most recent actions, which leads to decreased performance.[/rquoter]

The “hot hand” describes the belief that the performance of an athlete, typically a basketball player, temporarily improves following a string of successes. Although some earlier research failed to detect a hot hand, these studies are often criticized for using inappropriate settings and measures. The present study was designed with these criticisms in mind. It offers new evidence in a unique setting, the NBA Long Distance Shootout contest, using various measures. Traditional sequential dependency runs analyses, individual level analyses, and an analysis of spontaneous outbursts by contest announcers about players who are “on fire” fail to reveal evidence of a hot hand. We conclude that declarations of hotness in basketball are best viewed as historical commentary rather than as prophecy about future performance.[/rquoter]

They can't unless they win the division.

Lin had a few great defensive sequences. Even when it seemed like it was a mismatch he did a solid job on D on ISOs. Maybe it'll get some posters to examine their biased eye test.

I have no problem with the last play where Harden was wide open. Too bad it didn't go in.

May be Stern is saving the Rockets from having to face Denver in 1st round. We wouldn't mind facing them as a team even if it means we'll get swept, as we should. But it would be bad for business. Too many will tune out rest of playoffs.

And by team ball, you mean he should have passed it to Lin. Because as awful as everybody else on the team had been tonight...

People need to lay off Harden and Lin. they were the only two to show up. The rest of this team wasn't worth a $**** today

stop complaining about the hero balls. harden was fouled on those. if this was a playoff game, the ref's would be forced to call them in the last two mintues because harden is an all star.

He's just not ready yet. He gotta learn how to play defense to at least be able to stay on the floor. Gain some muscle and learn to play some D.

Please read the post to which I replied. And if 40% is your benchmark, then yes, Lin has been shooting at that clip as of late, and was 2 of 5 for this game.

Brothers! Surely we can at least see this team the way we see those lovely jugs. Sure, we don't love everything about them (dat face!) but, comrades, let us appreciate the body as a whole. It's a work in progress that was a surprise to all given our expectations.

Whenever you are saying Lin should get the final shot because Steve Kerr did like it or not you are comparing them.

I wouldn't say that. Asik and TJones were battling today against tough tough bigs and they had their moments. PatBev was hustling. Our shooters were not getting great looks tonight because Memphis plays excellent defense.

how would you know he'll get called? Playoffs are more physical and i doubt he can draw foul as easy.

Wow his boasting is a bit much considering how bad the refs were tonight... I would have just took my win quietly if I were him.
