Maybe I misunderstood what the OP was saying. I agree Harden made some poor decisions down the stretch. He was still trying to force the issue with foul calls and that contested three was just a bad shot. I don't think he's as bad as Kobe (God willing I hope he doesn't take that path) but I agree he needs to trust his teammate (Lin in this case) more. He set him up perfectly for the earlier three. So if he kicks it to Lin and Lin misses what would this thread look like?

Everybody knew Harden was taking that shot. Absolutely everybody. And I am not even complaining about it. Just wondering if there was a better play that could have been drawn up. Harden had no legs whatsoever no way in hell that shot was going in. This game wasn't lost in the last few minutes anyway, it was lost with Hardens 8 TO's, Lins 4TO's, D-mo's poor play, Asik struggling to finish bunnies, Memphis' suffocating D & dodgy calls by the refs.

I think the long 2 was a result of getting stuck with trying to get Harden the last shot. I don't agree with it in most instances, and especially if he's on like he was in the 3rd. But I think the problem is that good defensive teams already have their radar on Harden, which should be obvious. What coaching should have done tonight, since Lin got going, was use Harden as a decoy and work a play for 3 shot by Lin.

I would be shocked though if McHale works it into future plays.

1.) it's true that the ref were a little biased today.. When you see Harden getting T up you know how bogus it is since he rarely get angry

2.) to those of you who think Harden should've passed, get out of here! that was a high open shot I would give Harden that shot 10 out of 10 times because he'll make 9 of them.

3.) You guys are crying about the game and how we should've won that but are forgetting the whole reason why we're in the playoff in the first place! We're here to get the experience, a taste of contender's basketball, and you guys can't say that this game was not a playoff atmosphere game. Although we lost, it had no implication on us not participating in the playoffs and we got much needed experience!

4.) go out for a walk and cool your heads. This game, we played hard!

    Thanks!

Yes. I saw the whole game. And Harden, despite his turnovers, is why we were even in the game to begin with.

He was fouled on at least two of those possessions and in the last possession he was wide open. That was a shot he had to take.

Lin was solid tonight, but he was the only other player who had a solid offensive game. Delfino was terrible. Parsons is on the bench. Garcia was off. Motiejunas was TERRIBLE. You guys act like Harden had a lot of options. Lin was the only guy on the court that might have been worth passing to. And he was far from perfect tonight too.

It's amazing to me how you Lin fans can't see the bigger picture. It isn't like I'm only rooting for Harden. I've been a Rockets fan since 1986. Last I checked, Lin is a Rocket. And do you know what? I like the kid.

Harden is our best player though - and it isn't even close.

Whoa...never claimed that. What about John Paxson, BJ Armstrong? My retort was in reply to someone saying he doesn't deserve the last shot because he couldn't create for himself. Stop twisting my words please.

You live and die by your best player.

That's just the way it is and it isn't going to change.

well, good game. its just those last harden possessions (minus the good look on the last) that really shows iso-hero ball will not win games most of the time.
(especially against a good defensive team)

team ball would have been the bomb at the end. wish harden wouldve passed to lin who was wide open. but i guess he knows the defn of hero ball and being the lead star, but whatever.. (those contested poor shots are westbrook type of plays and low BB-iq moves).

    good D by him though.

anyways, lin with a team high 45 min pt. good burn. finally made 3s again. thought he was gonna be go 0 again like the suns game.

Mchale could borrow some offense play book from Adelman... Our off ball movement is really bad this game. It is terrible. While it might be too much to ask for as he is coaching a completely new team, he really needs to design better plays and direct the players to move better on the court!

This isn't even funny though. I really like D-mo & I want him to succeed but he is clearly uncomfortable out there. Depresses me.

LOL. It is going to be like this in the post season unfortunately.

Well said. Parsons being on the bench hurt us badly, and good lord, the refs were awful.

You made a direct comparison of Steve Kerr to Jeremy Lin, how in the world was I twisting your words? Both those guys were 40% 3pt shooters in Bulls championship days btw.
