yeah I've been. The people there speak ridiculously awesome English. Like better than you'd hear from many parts of Houston good.

It's a clean place, very nice people. Don't be loud and obnoxious and really drunk -- that's frowned upon. Doesn't fit with their culture.

Good food if you like seafood

I'd recommend walking around Vigeland Park. It has 200 nude sculptures (all by the same guy, Gustav Vigeland) spread around the park. It's a beautiful park, but also pretty unique and weird.

If you're remotely interested in art definitely check out the Edvard Munch paintings. There's a Munch museum devoted solely to his work, and many of his other paintings are at various art museums around the city.

Compared to other European cities it's not the most scenic to walk around, but there are some pretty cool modern buildings like the opera house, and some historic buildings like Akershus Fortress.

As far as museums, the Norsk Folkmuseum was pretty cool to walk around if it's a nice day. An outdoor museum with a bunch of old homes/buildings/churches from various parts of Norway. There's also a couple museums devoted to boats. The Fram Museum and Kon-Tiki museum are kind of interesting if you have time and already have an interest or know the story behind them, but I wouldn't bother if you have limited time. The Viking ship museum is probably the best of the boat museums (3 vikings ships that date back to 800AD).

Not sure if it's open his early in Spring or if you have time, but the Norway In a Nutshell train ride is pretty incredible. You can do it in a day, but it's pretty long. Basically just a train ride through remote parts of Norway. Incredible scenery.

As far as food. Prepare to spend. A burger/fries/drink meal at a fast food places cost us about $18USD. A small serving of pasta cost close to $40USD. There was a cafeteria-style place called Kaffistova, which had relatively affordable light meals. We didn't really seek out nice local restaurants due to the prices, so can't really help you there.

Since this is not a "political" thread (so far), I will come out of "retirement" for the moment.

My nephew recently moved to the western coast of Norway and absolutely loves Norway and its people. He said he is never coming back. DCKid is right, however, about the overall cost of living. One big positive is that he is giving up cigarettes because they cost $20 a pack.

If you would like to see pictures of the scenery just outside his house, let me know. My email address is thumbs@email.com. I can hardly wait to visit. Even though he said the weather is not that cold (one picture shows him in the snow in just a T-shirt), I'll wait till mid-summer to visit.

Is Norweigan seafood like American style, lots of sauce and flavour, or is it more pure and simple, like the Japanese?

Norway's landscape is beautiful. When I was a child, I went on vacation with my parents here:

Never been, but I've met a handful of entrepreneurs from Oslo and they've all been obnoxious, loud, heavy-drinking, binge-smokers.

yeah i was actually quite disappointed on my visit, seemed like an awful lot of norwegians are largely uneducated tools who now have a little bit of oil $

I wanna go. I saw this movie once called Troll Hunter. I want to say it was done in Norway? The scenery was pretty amazing.
