I definitely agree. I am a big fan of both Lin and Beverley. I do think Lin got off to a slow start, but he is rocking now. The same for Beverley. PG is set for next two seasons.

I am really happy that Lin is starting to shoot more threes. He's been making them consistently for two and half months. He has finally started shooting them a lot. Beverley's percentage has dipped a little recently, but he has to keep firing away.

    Hold up!

So in the 636 minutes you saw Beverly play you deduced that he has a ceiling of a top 10 PG? Really. And you say that it is certainly not a crazy claim? LOL Aruba.

I like beverly too but you are reaching so hard I am afraid you are going to fall over.

Yes but is he doing anything worth mentioning? If you think that being a backup and play quality minutes is worth mentioning then there are around 100 of those in the NBA. That's not mentioning the starters. PB is as worth mentioning as Toney Douglas, but then again you guys were very high on Douglas also.

PB has a great story and plays his heart out each and every game, he's fun to watch so people will talk about him. Not unlike Lin actually.

That attitude is the exact attitude Rockets fans try to avoid because in the past few years every single starting PG on this team inherited their starting position by outplaying the starter.

Rafer to Brooks, Brooks to Lowry, Lowry to Dragic.

PB's playstyle is reminiscent of Lowry, and has a good 3 point shot. Although I doubt that he will ever outplay Lin consistently enough to take the starting spot, he deserves a lot of credit for coming in mid season and having immediate impact.

any OPINION that could conceivably be construed as a threat to Lin's supremacy at our PG position, even if it has nothing to do with Lin, is something that i expect to receive opposition to from Lin fans such as yourself. That's my inappropriate shot. ;) Now that i got that out of the way... yes, i do think Beverly has a lot of upside and that he will continue to get better. Lockdown defenders and guys who handle and take care of the ball as well as he does are not a dime a dozen.

He reminds me of Avery Bradley.

I agree, though I don't think "top 10 pg" would be fair to the other great up and coming pg's of this league. I am personally hoping that he becomes similar to Mike Conley.

Beverley's athleticism and defense are definite pluses but he hasn't shown any real flashes of elite playmaking or scoring ability which in my opinion is more important at the PG spot.

I also don't see how he handles or takes care of the ball any better than average, he's #49 in TO ratio.

no idea where you find rankings of TO's per 36 minutes, but Beverley averages 2.3, which is very good (for players averaging 15 min per game or more). Lin, for example, averages 3.2 and that's greatly improved from last year, when he averaged 4.8.

And no, i'm not trying to make this a Lin vs Beverley issue; was just using Lin as an example.

Top 10 is completely fair as a ceiling. Most players do not make their ceiling. Basically, he would need to be a little better than Lowry was last season to be top ten. He is already about 30th best. And usually when someone says top 10...they are saying he will at best be 9-10th best....oddly kind of like where Conley is.

Hey Aruba77, great job of sticking too the topic. I know you want to leave the yellow brick road but please don't.

I also agree that PB has a very very high ceiling... Most players in this league can score and even PB has shown that he can score, what sets him apart from others is his ability to score and play defense. There are only a few players in the league that can do it on both ends of the floor.

Most teams scores never defend the other teams top score, PB is a very unique and gifted player and only a hand full of guards have ever been able to block shots like PB... very small handful.

    What's so hard to understand?

Lin: 940 minutes mostly as a starter last year = scrub
Bev: 636 minutes as a backup = possible Top 10 PG

He's 10th in assist to turnover ratio. He is not an elite playmaker. Outside the great PGs, there aren't elite playmakers. For PGs, he appears to be a top 5 rebounder. He also appears to have potential to be top 5 defense and top 5 3pt shooting for PGs.

There is a very good chance he spends 90% of his minutes with either Harden or Lin on the floor. His role with either of those guys will be to play defense, rebound, be aggressive off the ball, and knock down shots. His playmaking is good enough to be the second best playmaker on the court.

    Top 10 backup? Yes.

Top 10 in the Spanish League? Yes.
