Wow this draft is super weak. I really hope morey can pull a lottery pick for next year, that draft is deep with potential superstars
Are there still any questions now about Oladipo? Sure enough he belongs top 5, especially in this weak draft class. I can't see Mitch McGary or Glenn Robinson III going that high. Neither guy is ready and GRIII never will be.
Julius Randle, Aaron Gordon & Aaron Harrison are 3 overhyped guys I think will disappoint as freshman. Wiggins will be just fine and I'm ready to say he's a lock for #1 pick in 2014. He's so far ahead of everyone else it isn't funny. Nobody is within breathing distance athletically and his skill level is already crazy.
I dont think we want any first rounders this year. The cold hold will eat into our ability to sign Dwight. Not saying Dwight is a sure thing, but you can bet Morey is gonna try.
Yeah I been saying this for a while... On paper this draft class is the weakest ever as far as talent and pontential... It is so bare on top and the depth is alittle bit overrated... Saying that, having the 33rd pick is NICE since Darryl Morey is at his drafting BEST whenever he drafts in the 2nd rd. Besides Joey Dorsey he has been pretty much on whenever he drafts in the 2nd rd... No need to move up in the 1st rd because then it is a guranteed contract... But yeah I do agreed after the TOP 7 decent players on top, the talent drops big time... 2014 NBA draft has big time pontential... 2013 NBA draft class D grade 2014 NBA draft class A+ grade
Harrison Barnes was also that 2 years before... so it happens, A LOT. I think the guy with the highest star potential this year is Ben McLemore, although I hate to admit it those damn KU fans.
It doesn't have to be first rounder, but even that would help us sign DWH. If we exchange Trob's rather high salary with one or two high second rounder salaries(or a mid to late first rounder salaray), our cap space would be increased.
Yeah I forgot McLemore. Did not forget Oladipo. He'll have to make it in the NBA as a Kawhi Leonard type. And Kawhi Leonard was drafted exactly where he deserved to be, at 15.
Morey can just chill out with his 2nd round pick if he wants to because there will be players in the first round that fall to the 2nd because this is a prime year for a run of European players to be drafted since the college pool isn't strong (a route I wouldn't be surprised to see Morey take), IMO...
My predictions go (regardless of team needs) 1. Nerlens Noel 2. Ben Mclemore 3. Shabazz Muhammed 4. Trey Burke 5. Victor Oladipo 6. Marcus Smart 7. Mitch McGary 8. Cody Zeller 9. Kelly Olynyk 10. Glenn Robinson
I vehemently disagree with the latter, and can't help but think that the bolded portion just completely invalidates everything else you've posted in this thread.
If PJ Hairston comes out in the draft I really hope he falls to our pick in the second round. I would love to have a shooter like him coming off the bench behind Harden.
Ford's explanation for his draft order all has to do with position of need. Really? You think somebody is going to blow a lottery pick by drafting position of need rather than best player available? In this day and age? That's pretty laughable.
It's not really one year, it's the level of competition. All these kids started out as being more athletic than your average guy, and it helped them look like the next Kobe or the next Shaq. It's only when they face more athletic players that everyone starts seeing their flaws. Austin Rivers was the number 1 ranked high school kid before he went to college.
Everyone drafts by need, the only ones who draft by BPA are $ball guys like Morey and they get laughed at for it ("oh yeah, just what we need another undersized PF").
He doesn't make it as clear as he should here, but he's using both need and BPA. It's just that guys 1-9 are fairly interchangeable, according to Ford. Noel probably goes 1st but even Bennett (9th) has a shot to go in top 3 based on workouts.
