Good to hear we're going for that 6th spot and will play to win even if we go up against the dreaded Nuggets.
Yeah you don't want to tell your team to lose, as scary as Denver might be. At least it won't be OKC.
It's one thing for an old team full of playoff experience to rest up but this team needs the pressure. Stoke the coals and forge the steel.
I can respect this, even though I believe the Nuggets are a bad match up. As long as he isn't pushing players to play hurt or tired (Harden, Parsons and Delfino), it's okay with me. I just want us healthy for the play offs.
Knowing McHale, this is what I expected him to do. He will try to win every single game possible. Looks great on his coaching resume too!
This sounds awfully like a few years ago with McGrady Rockets' and I forget which seed. We could have purposely tanked to play a team we could easily beat (Sonics with Ray Allen + Rashard Lewis) Or we get a higher seed to play a team we struggled with. Forgot the teams but I remembered being angry that we werent more tactful with the seeding (since it was obvious we would kick Seattle's ass)
I've been all over the map but this is really what it comes down to. You'd like to play the Spure sure, but not at the expense of killing momentum going into the playoffs.
We are not playing denver....look at SA schedule, look at Denver schedule... Denver will take the number 2 seed. Do some homework before you start crying
Spurs have a magic number of 1 to get the 2nd seed, and they still play the Kings and TWolves... Would be an epic collapse if they dropped to 3.
It's the only way to play. Losing breeds losing. I never understood those coaches that want to rest there players get an edge in the playoffs. Okay I get why Pop does it. His team will break down before the playoffs if he doesn't. But it hasn't worked for Pop and the Spurs. You are what you repeatedly do. Winning is not an action you can turn on and off but rather a habit. You win and win and then you get used to winning and learn how to win in a variety of ways with a variety of players. That is why Miami will win it all this year. They know how to win better than anyone now. Okay it doesn't hurt that they 3 of the top ten players in the league but they know how to win with them. That's why Durant said we're playing to win every game. They don't care if that means they have to face the Lakers. Bring'em on says Durant. He wants to be in that winning rhythm going into the playoffs. Great to hear no nonsense talk about resting. Winning breeds winning. ANd we will better off winning now and going as deep as we can in the playoffs for next year.
This current unit still hasn't fully hit their stride either IMO since the trade deadline. Every single game they can use to build that continuity matters incredibly. I would say them building continuity at this point is more important than worrying about tired legs in the playoffs when you have 2 days between every game, and very little crazy travel schedules. Plus... ITS THE FREAKING PLAYOFFS If you are 23 years old and cant kick it into overdrive for 4 to 7 more games, you need to find yourself a different line of work.
