Wrong man - Rockets have plenty of dead money on the roster and already has 100k of dead money for waiving Honeycutt.

If drama continue into training camp, DM better waive his ass. Roster spot are precious and DM should be using it to find the next hidden gem a la Beverly.

the roster spot availability is probably the best argument for cutting Royce. That said ...damn. How does a smart NBA franchise pay a guy a $1.7 mil to be a musician?

Same NBA franchise paying these guys to NOT DO ANYTHING for them this year:

    Luis Scola -$4.90
    Daequan Cook -$3.09
    Gary Forbes -$1.50
    Lazar Hayward -$1.17
    JuJuan Johnson -$1.12
    Jon Brockman -$1.00
    Shaun Livingston -$1.0
    Tyler Honeycutt -$.85
    Scott Machado -$.19

That's $14.82 in salary that Le$ is paying these guys to do nothing this year. At least they got some D-League play out of this guy.

He's been a pain in the A#$ for the Rockets to deal with since he signed his contract, but he's worth a long-shot training camp invite next Fall.

If for some reason a trade comes down the pipe, and they need help at the 3rd string 4 spot, or he has a ridiculous Summer of improvement and recommitment, its worth it to give him up until the end of training camp to be on the roster. At the end of training camp, if either of the above mentioned scenarios do not happen, I fully expect the Rockets to waive him at that point.

His 47 kids and all the women who tossed his salad will probably know him, and I doubt any current Rockets fans will ever be able to completely forget this mess, but I hope you're right otherwise.

But sometime later this year or next year, you definitely will, because, like I am now, you'll be reminded of that name everytime you come to this board and your mouse does a trick on your single peen that'll say you are him -- "showing a lot of promise." SMH...such a travesty.

I really disagree with this strongly.

His maximum possible upside is a weaker, slower version of Anthony Mason. His downside, which is much more probable, is the poop show he put on this year, as a major distraction to the organization, the RGV, and the fanbase.

If we average the outcomes weighted by their likelihood, we would be better off bringing back Brian Cook than bringing Royce to training camp.

Just NO. NO NO NO NO. Please, no.

Trust me Im not holding out hope for the guy. I think its a 99% chance the Rockets waive him at the end of training camp when they decline to pick up his option for the next season.

However, they have invested a ton into this guy, and the BS he has put them through over the past 10 months. It just doesn't make any sense to me to cut him right this second when you can give him one last chance this Summer to get his crap together and prove to the team that he can be the player he was when he was drafted last Summer.

Plus if you cut him at the end of training camp next year its obviously due to performance when player cuts are typically done in bulk. If you cut him right now, you might be asking for trouble if he takes it personal and goes on a public attack of the team DURING THE PLAYOFFS in a time that is supposed to be a celebration of the future of this team.

I personally say cut him at the end of training camp, unless you need his roster spot for a trade at some point in the Summer. At this point, you can do more damage than good screwing around with this guy right now. If he somehow gets his act together this Summer, and straightens out his life, he's definitely worth taking a look at in training camp just for giggles one last time. However, I am DEFINITELY NOT advocating for this guy one bit if thats what it seems like.

Okay, I hear you. Thanks for the clear post.

We are mostly on the same page, not that it matters to anybody. LOL.

Nope... nor should it really even matter to the team or front office. Morey shouldn't lose a minute of sleep on this guy. Its like crying over spilled milk when you live on a dairy farm.

One practice a week?????? I knew he was just lazy. They should fine him for every practice he misses. Drafting this guy was a HUGE mistake.
