    if and when it wants.

'Light-rail vehicles can interrupt traffic signals.'

which means it always get the green light.

You don't seem to ride either ride the rail NOR bus. SRSLY, it sounds like you're not aware of what happens in traffic while you're in either one of those.

that's not true at all. I walk in front of the rail while it's stopped at a red light on almost a daily basis. (that's why L trains are the best but also very expensive). Light rail is better than no rail, but it makes traffic screwy and it stops for lights.

it's ok, seems like replacing it with rail will be easy in the future.

I've always wondered, is DART considered more extensive than MetroRail?

I'm not seeing how opting to use the bus over simply driving could possibly be faster. Like PointForward said, there is plenty of parking. And all this for... retail shoppers? C'mon man.

I don't think some of you realize there are actual business's in the Galleria area.

I guess this is better than nothing. I would prefer commuter trains connecting to light rail, but in the mean time, this could serve a purpose. I could easily see myself using the park and ride on the NW that would then connect to this. The problem now is that after taking metro into NW station, the bus from there to the Galleria has to sit in all the traffic (much of it caused by 610). If you have dedicated lanes for the bus, the commute would be much more efficient and would make it worth my while to ride into work.

I've been stuck on Post Oak in the evenings for 15 to 20 minutes, just to get on 610. Anyone that is in the area during rush hour in the evenings knows how much of a cluster eff it is!

    Amen brotha.

People be coming in at like 70 mph and then trying to criss cross each other to get into the appropriate lane only to be stopped when they enter 610.

I used to work at San Felipe and Voss and live inside the loop near the Post Oak exit. I know the traffic there well. I don't see 2 buses fixing anything. Maybe I'm wrong, but the people that work in that area have nicer cars in general, and they like to show them off. In fact I've seen more Tesla's during that commute than anywhere else in my life.

The people that work in the area drive the exact same cars as the people that work downtown. If you had dedicated lanes, you would probably get similar ridership to what you have downtown.

Oh and the nice cars are probably the ones that live in the area or come to the area to shop, not those working in the area.

Thank you for inserting sense into the thread. It's amazing and sad that GM (and government suburban subsidization) transformed the mindset of most people in this nation to be auto centric.

pretty sure you're confusing "work" with "live". uptown is one of the largest employment districts in the city and i assure you the vast majority of those employees aren't the ones you see driving teslas.

So... That's even worse than having the rail have the right of way.

Either way it makes traffic screwy.

"Norfolk Light Rail passengers question train’s frequent stops at red lights

Several passengers who have opted to ride Norfolk’s newest mode of transportation, The Tide, are asking questions about the train’s efficiency.

Like cars, the train has to stop at red lights. Some passengers feel that this slows the train down.

Engineers say that The Tide is capable of bypassing the stoplights, but the city has chosen not to use that option. They fear that it will cause traffic jams in Downtown Norfolk.

NewsChannel 3’s Mike Mather rode the train, and it stopped at four red lights.

Sometimes, malfunctions cause The Tide to wait too long at some stops. On the corner of Boush and Bute Street, a train waited through two full cycles before the light turned green. The driver and passengers waited nearly 5 minutes before they were able to move again."
