LA did 3 in 3 years. it took the Spurs 5. and then the Lakers went to 3 more in a row and won 2. all this in the same decade. I'm just telling it like it is... and a three peat is a three peat, and a back to back is a back to back. sure, I guess. they won 4 out of 4 in their franchise history. that's pretty darn impressive.
The Spurs did it with no free agents, basically no trades, and no luxury tax (and the whole take pay cuts to save money has only really happened since they all started getting old). The new luxury tax is going to be a great balancer, because it's no longer going to be $100m payrolls playing 70 and unders, **** the lakers got Gasol by virtue of having grossly overpaid contracts on its books to trade.
I can't stop laughing at Lakersground.net From Kobe being on par with Durant, Kobe being better at defense right now than Chris Paul, Harden not being a top 15 player, to a Spurs/Lakers series being about 50/50 either way....it's good for some serious chuckles.
