playof basketball is COMPLETELY different. Case and point? Look at our run against the lakers in 09 reg season and playoffs.
Good lord it is so refreshing to find someone that isn't just talking out of their ass and their emotional being when watching the regular season games. In order to predict playoff basketball you need to watch style and predict that. People seem to think that the nuggets are to us right now what the 05-07 suns were to us. That suns team was one of the team that was our kyrptonite and we could NEVER beat, it was painfully obvious. This team? Not even close.
You didn't read my previous explanation, the warriors to the mavericks and 05-07 sun to the earlier rockets are not what the Nuggets are to the rockets. When ever the rockets would play the suns they almost never had a shot at winning which was apparent. You don't get the feel for that in these games.
I just don't understand why you say this... We didn't play every game against the Nuggets on a b2b or without Parsons this year, yet we still went 0-4. I'm not being emotional from one game last week. I'm judging based on all of the games we played against them this season. They TRASHED us at HOME too! And what makes you think we won't run out of gas in the second half of those games in Denver? Just because it won't be a back to back? Not likely... We already had a conversation about the oxygen and partial pressure difference, so I know you understand this! Denver is a really good team with or without Gallinari and Lawson, and I personally think the Lawson injury is being overblown. We'll see I guess...
I hope we don't play the Thunder first round. I just moved to OKC from Houston last month and they all love their Thunder here so I'll be sure to be getting a lot of smack talk. However if we somehow knocked them out first round, that would only make it that much sweeter.
I hope for Sa just because I used to live there and we might be able to beat them since they are hurt and #13 is a spur killer. It would be nice to have some bragging rights over my friends there. It's getting annoying hearing how great the Spurs are everytime I talk to them. If we lose no big deal because we weren't supposed to win anyways.
this two of those games were decided in the final minutes of 4th, the series could have easily been 2-2 just by that. Everything from here on is speculation. The playoff game slows down tremendously, this does hurt the rockets, but hurts the nuggets more since thats all they have been doing. Over a 7 game series holes become apparant and teams adjust REALLY fast. I won't say anything else, but if we do end up playing them and you are right I will eat crow.
For a 7 game series and time to adjust from both sides. I actually gotta say Denver. Regular season match-ups mean nothing most of the time.
Really? Any time any of the following happens: 1. Wilson Chandler makes a 3 2. Corey Brewer makes a 3 3. Corey Brewer fast break bucket 4. Iguodala shut down on Harden 5. Andre Miller gets triple teamed while in the post against Lin even though he hasn't even f'ing scored against Lin in the post yet 6. McGee blocks The momentum shifts to them every time and the game gets out of our grasp.
We can't defend ANY of their guys AT ALL. It's all about matchups, not some silly "oh they don't have any superstars and will probably show weakness in a 7 game series because they aren't the Miami Heat". NO. One word. MATCHUPS. They own us in every aspect of our game.
Sure, the Spurs are experienced and whatever. But if you have watched any of the Rockets games, Asik was a beast on D against Duncan. Duncan is their #1 option after Parker, who I might add is seriously banged up right now. Take that away and they don't have any superstars leading their offense, just a bunch of role players.
Yeah, in fact, I think "we" (never liked using that term for sports) catch the Warriors, who I think go 1-2 in their last stretch. The Rockets should go 2-1, and with the tiebreaker, Rockets get 6th.
you've been here long enough. You should remember the games we used to play against the suns during the Yao era (before they got Shaq). It was so ridiculously lopsided I think it i T-mac to score like 48 in one of our rare wins. What you just described is what we do to many teams anyways, they play our style of ball. In the playoffs that is something you should never fear. Its the teams that play a different style you should fear. The spurs wiping the floor with the suns every year while Nash was there. Completely opposite styles. Dallas vs GS in 07 , the example you cited, different styles. The rockets Kryptonite would be a lock down defensive team that defends the 3 extremely well also (spurs). Another Kryptonite is a team with loads of athletic talent and two players that will get their shot either way, like OKC. Yea we beat OKC once this year, but watching those games we literally did all the right things at the same time they had to do all the wrong things to barely squeak out a win. If you think the OKC games are similar to the games we played against Denver you need to rewatch them.
Spurs just waived Stephen Jackson, for what's worth http://https://twitter.com/wojyahoonba/status/322821736854851584
