I don't know anyone who predicted us to make the playoffs before the season started. Not even after we landed Harden. So if you actually did call it then come out and claim your rep points. I'll even give it to those who called it after our first two games, when it appeared that Harden was a stud at least.
Even if someone called it, it's not like they were anything other than misguided at the time, or a Grade A homer. sorry to be an ass.
most ppl here believed at the beginning that it might be on the edge of playoff. it could be another 14th pick season if not in playoff. if in, the best might be the 8th seed.
I thought we were playoff ready once Harden went off in the first two games, but I don't think that should qualify as "seeing" this success.
i doubt. jazz, mavs, and lakers are all contending for a playoff spot. of course (someone asked me to write the whole words so i am doing it now), mavs is out now.
Before the trade, I predicted a horrible season resulting in a top 8 pick. After the trade I believed they would come close to making the playoffs, but eventually wouldn't get in. I had no idea the Lakers would be this bad, and the Mavs playoff streak would finally end. Golden State was a surprise too.
lol I don't remember if I posted this on ClutchFans but I do remember getting into a huge argument with my dad who thought Harden would ruin Lin and I kept trying to argue that I'm sure now they'd get into the playoffs. All the pieces were there for a 14th pick pre-Harden, and imo Harden threw them over the top. Don't really care if I get rep for this either way, but I'm sure other people thought so too, publically or privately.
I felt they had a chance to make the playoffs before the got Harden. Without Harden, they would probably be fighting for 8th right now.
I thought we'd have a decent chance for playoffs for sure. Before the Harden trade, I thought we'd be alright but miss the playoffs. I didn't think we'd be one of the worst teams in the league.
7/21/12: Parsons should have a strong year. Maybe turn into a 16 and 6 guy. 7/21/12: Better load up on Parsons in your fantasy drafts. Guys that tend to have good chemistry off the court with Lin have good success on the court with him. Not saying he gives them better treatment on the court, and it could be purely coincidental, but if you look at the chemistry on the court when Lin was paired with Landry Fields or Novak or Chandler...those guys played at a much higher level 8/11/12 The Rockets, like many young, smart teams out there are playing this correctly. Preparation is key and that's what they've done. They don't have the baggage of bad long term contracts to hold themselves hostage (coupled with a lot of young, promising players and draft picks) that once another top tier player comes available thru FA or trade, they'll be in perfect position to be on the shortlist. Obviously, the downside is...this team (barring any big surprises) probably won't be all that good (which isn't to say they won't be exciting to watch as they learn and develop). But the worst thing they could've done is become the next Atlanta Hawks or Memphis Grizzlies. A playoff team that will never make it to a conference finals. So they'll just ride along until they can make that run for 1 or 2 elite players while already having a decent foundation to work with. And yes, there are a lot of smart clutchfans that have already pointed this out, but it's worth repeating that by the Rockets keeping it open, it'll be better in the long term. 7/22 Contributing Member Invisible Fan Quote: Originally Posted by hustle_town View Post Guys who think Lin is a legit NBA player: Invisible Fan quote: Legit != Great or starter quality
I didn't. I didn't have a hateful doubt but rather just a sense of humility out weighing my rocket fan homerism hope. Rep for being honest?
I think I predicted between 25 and 30 wins, something like that. I wasn't expecting Harden at that point, but even after I didn't believe the Rockets would make the playoffs. Lin has been about what I expected, coming off an injury, but Asik has been the biggest surprise. I expected a "stiff." I never thought Lowry was "all that," but letting Dragic walk really bothered me. Also, Scola was my favorite player. The "blow up" of the team was a crushing disappointment. I hope it doesn't happen again, at some point you have to "build."
This for me as well. I figured we'd be pretty terrible pre-trade. After getting Harden, I thought we'd be on the outside looking in, in terms of the playoff picture.
