I don't agree with you in two things: 1. Rockets bring in Harden as a max player not only to score( aka Kevin Martin), but to be the star that can carry the team on both ends of the floor. 2. Lebron, Durant and Pierce all put in a lot effort on defensive end, so far Harden hasn't. Unlike Martin and Brook, Harden has all the tools to play good defense at his position. A true superstar needs to make great impact on both ends of the floor. That's why you take TD/KG over Amare Stoudemire anyday. Harden will not be a superstar and Rockets will not have much success in playoffs until he starts to play real good defense.
but isnt harden one of the premier ball stealers in the league? isnt that one of the signs that he is solid on defense?
The gain of getting one more steal than an average PG is not nearly enough to make up for the loss of consistent missing defensive assignments through out the game.
Harden did make this team better but I think you're giving too little credit to other players' talent than they deserve. No Rockets wouldn't be last place like Phoenix. We're blowing out sub 500 teams without Harden. I think we would be fighting 8 seed without him.
Hilarious. People on this board actually believe that the difference between Harden and Kevin Martin is 2-3 wins.
So Harden basically has given us 1-2 more wins than we'd have without him? GTFO that's utterly ridiculous...
i like how that metaphor backfired...:grin::grin: btw i remembered your coment a few times today... actualy it first happened while i was practicing basketball at a playground...kinda shootaround(interupted by street dancing).... a voice of Richard Bandler suddenly appeared in my head yelling triumphantly at you: "DOUBLE BIND!!!" I started laughing out loud like a crazy man...people around me probably though i am a madman... shooting the ball and laughing thunderously alone ....:grin::grin:
I'd say maybe 4 more wins or so than without Harden. Go back and remember every game this season. Some games we would loose without Harden's high efficient scoring. Some games don't matter because we were blowing opposite teams out. And a few games we lost because Harden's low efficient but high volume attempts especially during the 7 games skid. To estimate those games' scores without Harden, you can take away Harden's attempts each game and use other players' average shooting percentage in each game. Assuming opposite team's scoring is constent (without considering defensive effect), Harden probably won us 6 games and lost us 2 games. So ya I couldn't say our team was a bottom feeder without Harden.
You know what it says to me? That he is TRYING, all this crap about him just standing out there and not trying and sometimes he's the only one running back on defense. A missed assignment is a mistake, it's not a sign that he's not trying.
hmmm perhaps, but i am not buying it..... yet, because one thing he surely brngs to the table and that is hype and confidence and that is one way he is making others and the team as a whole better
A bit scary if that's true. Not sure if effort + bad results is better than no effort + bad results. Are we looking at Amare Stoudemire here? Harden can score and pass, so I'm hopeful that he will figure things out defensively.
I'm just trying to be objective when estimating our record without Harden. Of course in real games, things change in different situation. Just like in a game momentum is very important and can't be translate into numbers. However with wide range of samples, stats and law of averages don't lie.
You can disagree but please have something to back up your argument instead of just calling people insane. Not saying I'm a hard core stat guy or any good but I wonder if you think Morey's money ball method is insane as well.
thnx good job good efort! keep up the good job of course you laughed i am the comedian in charge here...
