Because no "other" president has had to deal with a potential outbreak of war on his hands while trying to pass major gun legislation? At least to my knowledge, I could be wrong in this.

I don't know maybe having to deal with the most ignorant dumbasses making asinine racist jokes on the internet for the past few days directed towards Asians is a bit ****ing annoying.

I understand that many non-Asian Americans are desensitized to war because they've:
    a) Never had a true land battle outside of the civil war on their homeland.
    b) They are fully confident (as they should be) in the absolute military power of the US.
    c) Don't have family or any ties to South Korea.

I understand that its a funny matter for some, but its a bit annoying when people take the situation a little too lightly...

Let me kindly remind you that you being Hispanic and not caring about racist jokes targeted at Hispanics is completely and utterly meaningless.

It cannot be used as a basis for anything other than evidence that you're an idiot.

One of the reasons that they are being so strident right now rests in their own history. Their military was on "routine scheduled maneuvers" when they launched their surprise attack on South Korea and the United Nations in 1950.

North Korea could be the greatest reality television series, ever.

When I'm here I see some talk of Korean war, talk of escalation and threats from North Korea, a racist joke posted by one member, complaints of racism, someone who was unhappy their racist post was called out, etc.

Funny thing is, the same threat/rhetoric from Iran would "force" us to war.

    Brilliant association.

I heard he also likes to play golf, and am thinking that he is going to trade in Air Force One for a used 2011 Volkswagen Golf Hatchback.

Remember that a couple of years ago NK shelled a SK village and sunk an SK naval ship -- we're still far from Armageddon.

However -- I think this is the prevailing feeling around the country right now...

If North Korea launches a nuclear missile that actually hits another country, it will be over quickly for them. For that matter, if it becomes obvious that is their intention, they may not get the chance to launch it.

I'm still skeptical that the UN would sit idly by if we nuke NK into oblivion in return. NK launching a nuke would definitely give us the green light to invade. However, I fear it would still be a conventional war by us.

I would prefer attacking before they attack.

IMO, conventional war would be optimal in that scenario. The US would devastate them from the air, and polish them off on the ground. The actual 'war' would be over quickly, just like both Iraq wars.

My fear is that our government hasn't learned anything from recent history, and will proceed with occupying a nation of indoctrined people per-programmed to hate us.

I'm not so sure in this case. Don't most north Koreans want to be I. South Korea?
