Just got a text from ESPN-NBA:

"Lakers F Metta World Peace said he'll start Tuesday, just 12 days after surgery on torn meniscus in knee."

Is this guy crazy or is this realistic?

Lakers realize missing playoffs a real possibility. Desperate times call for desperate measures.

I hope he know what he is doing. (Does he ever???)

It would be sad to see Peace re-injure his knee because he played too early.

Remember Brandon Roy? When he tried to get out there one last time with the Blazers?

Depends on what surgery was performed. It's not unusual for athletes to opt for removal of the meniscus instead of repair or waiting for it to heal. If it was removed, he could possibly bounce back this quick (which is why players may chose to go this route).

He's a warrior but if I was him I wouldn't come back and risk further injury for the Lakers. He's an amnesty candidate if they sign DH according to Larry Coons.

Metta World Peace is going to have knee problems the rest of his life if he goes through with this...

Also this might turn into a knee jerk thread ;)

Is this logical though? Lack of rest/time to heal, etc.. he could easily end up snapping an acl or something

are you looking at amnesty as a bad thing from the players' perspective?

seems like a pretty sweet deal to me.

Amnesty aside, why come back and risk injury for a team you probably won't be playing for next year.

I'm indifferent towards him now but I loved him the year we had him and will never forget his contributions as a Rocket. That playoff run was something special and Tru Warier was a huge part of that.

Because that's what a Tru Warier does.
