This is how I feel as well. Call me crazy but even after last night loss to Nuggets I just want no parts of OKC. SA would beat the Rox with their experience and coaching. Denver will be tough as well but I'm banking on them slowing down in playoffs. I'm hoping we can have an advantage with having the only star in a series against Denver. I also feel the Nuggets will really feel the loss of Gallinari in playoffs. Still so much to be decided between now and end of regular season, will be interesting to watch.
Makes total sense. After being obliterated by the Nuggets, losing the season series 0-4, WHY WOULDN'T WE WANT TO FACE DENVER IN THE PLAYOFFS?!? THEY ARE ONLY 35-3 AT HOME!! NO PROBLEM!!!
Like I said, it will be tough against Denver as well. I'm not really expecting the Rox to win series against any of the top teams in playoffs this year. I just feel we have better chance against Denver than OKC and SA. Just my opinion.
LOL. I'm taking this as 100% truthfulness no sarcasm... But jeez, after what we have endured the last few years, especially last year... It's like half of these people don't even watch the Rockets! I bleed Rockets red man. I just want us in the playoffs so bad. Obviously I have my preferred matchup, but just GET IN! Once we clinch, then worry about the damn matchup.
I agree. the most important thing is to get in. Who we play, or the Lakers missing the playoffs, is secondary.
Okay. I'm not going to sit here and call you names, bash you, etc. But please tell me exactly why you think we would have the best chance against the Nuggets. I don't understand anyone who thinks we matchup well with them, I just don't. Here are my reasons: 1. Best home court advantage in sports history. Rabid fans, insane conditions, it's almost impossible to keep up with them in the second half of games especially with the way they play. 2. We have been absolutely horrible against them this season. 0-4 on the year, including 2 brutal losses at HOME. Not something I would want to see in the playoffs. 3. They have the personnel to play any style, with or without Lawson and Gallinari. They have super athletic bigs that we have no chance of matching up against. Their defense is underrated, and say what you want about the man, but George Karl seems to get the most out of all of his players. Freaking Evan Fourier is busting out lately. They can plug in almost anyone and expect to get solid production. 4. Our style feeds their strengths. Uptempo, hectic, lots of turnovers... We FEED their fast break, dunks, passing, etc. IMO, it's just a downright horrible, pathetic, no good matchup.
That's hilarious, but it doesn't make me feel any better if we have to play the Nuggets in the playoffs. We should be able to win two games, but I don't understand these people pining for the 6 seed, especially after last night. WTF.
I'm not going to argue with you. You have your opinion and I have mine. I gave my reasons for preferring the Nuggets earlier, good grief...
I felt like that before this last game too thinking we had a really good chance since Lawson and Gallo were out but I forgot about the Iggy Factor and of course the altitude which was too much for Asik. Denver is the only team out of the top 4 that have swept us this season.
True Iggy is a major factor in this matchup. I also feel that Denver has benefited a couple of times from playing Rox on second end of back to back. The Rox were balling last night and just ran out of steam just like that. I'm not denying it will be a tough matchup and the Rox would probably loss. I just give them less of a chance against OKC and SA.
I guess I mean't why do you prefer them over a team like the Spurs? Obviously that would be extremely difficult as well, and maybe I'm just hoping for that because of the Texas-style showdown, but I feel like we would have a better chance against them. I was just trying to gain some perspective, because it seems like lots of people still want us to face the Nuggets, even after how poorly we looked against them this season. Is Corey Brewer such a scrub that he cannot replace Gallinari? I don't think so... There is no reason to have your feelings hurt. Reasonable people can disagree. But I was just hoping for more of an explanation than, Gallinari is hurt, and "banking" that they will slow down. What evidence is there of that? Without Lawson and Gallinari, they destroyed us worse than any game we played them this season. I realize there were extenuating circumstances, but it just didn't look good at all.
Rockets should avoid Nuggets at all cost even if that means facing OKC or Spurs. One thing OKC and Spurs can't do to Rockets is take out Harden completely. Nuggets (Iggy) can do it while still containing Parsons and/or Lin (Miller won't be that much problem for Lin). Their perimeter defense (Iggy, Chandler) is top notch comparable to Heat. If only our front line can pick up the slack...
Why do people assume that Denver will get the third seed? Memphis still have a good chance of passing the Nuggets.
I agree with that. Denver looked good. But I also feel very confident we will make the playoffs and be at least the 7th seed. Right now OKC isn't guaranteed to win first seed. Especially after their loss today. And if we are to the 7th seed that pits us against them. I know Denver has looked great lately. I am still more afraid of OKC. Gallo is important to that team and I can't help but feel in a 7 game series he and Lawson will be missed. Teams seem to always play better for short stints after a tragedy. It's happened countless times. Even most recently the Rockets lost all of there rotational PF's and won. Besides the Rockets were playing B2Bs in the worst place to play the second game of a b2b. And they were playing without Parsons and DMo played too much and Greg Smith. My hope is that McHale will figure out that TJones needs more minutes down the stretch. No b2bs in the playoffs. Still i am no fool. Denver or OKC will be near impossible to win a series from. But if we can win the 6th seed that can't be a negative.
And that's why Rox should still be gunning for 6. This is the most ideal matchup out of the top teams.
