    i think it remains at 2 in the case of a three way tie. Houston sits at 3-1 and 2-1 vs Jazz and Lakers, respectively. Utah owns tiebreaker over LA at 2-1.

    Rockets are 43-34
    Jazz are 40-37
    Lakers are 40-37

    if the Jazz and the Lakers win out their seasons they would be 45-37.

    if the Rockets went 2-3, including a loss at LA (which would be the only way LA can win out) they would win in the case of a three way tie with a 5-3 record.

    I think the Lakers and Jazz flip flopping the 8th seed kept our magic number the same.

    in this case, the Rockets would be 5-3, the Jazz would be 3-4, and the Lakers would be 3-4.

    the Rockets would be 7 and the Jazz would be 8

    You know what would be the ultimate match?

    If the last match of HOU vs LAL determines if LAL makes the playoffs and if HOU makes 6th seed. That match would be so heated up.

    looking at the tiebreaker scenario frightens me.

    obviously we could lose out and be in big trouble, but this is the thing that I don't understand. not even I can translate this one:

    a three way tie gives us the clincher, but two spots would be up for grabs. technically LA would hold the tiebreaker over us if it came down to the last game and we were tied.

    Yeah I might be wrong but it's 2 wins to clinch if one of those wins is the lakers. 3 wins to clinch if we lose to the lakers.
