LCII, I don't know if Kevin McHale is the right coach to push this team to the next step or not but there is just not one single logical argument to support any theory other than McHale has been amazing as a head coach this season. The coaching job that Kevin McHale has done this year has been historically great. - 6 rookies on the roster of only 15 total - 3 rookies in the rotation - 2 players with only 1 year exp and both are major rotation pieces - only 1 veteran post player on the whole team.... Just Asik no one else. - Major turnove of roster at trade deadline. - He is trying to develop some young players while still making the play-offs I'm not sure what type of consistency or level of play any logical fan expects from a team so young and inexperienced but what ever those expectations are the Rockets have to be far exceeding them. Rome wasn't built in a day and the Rockets will not go from total rebuild to championship contenders in just a few months although its pretty impressive that they are a play-off team. I think that equals a historically great coaching effort.
If rox can't get an excellent defensive player, then teach players how to play team defense. Team defense is more important than a single defensive player.
I would do a sigh & trade with the Hawks for Josh Smith, sending back Asik, Robinson, D-Mo, and White. Then I would waive Delfino, Garcia, and Brooks to clear cap space, using that space to sign Dwight Howard. Finally, I would use the Suns 2nd rounder to find a replacement for Delfino. PG: Lin/Beverley SG: Harden/Anderson SF: Parsons/2nd Round Pick PF: J. Smith/Jones C: Howard/G. Smith You now have the best defensive front court in the league, and all you've lost on offense is your backup swingman. The trick is getting Dwight to leave LA and take less money. However, when you consider the tax situation in CA versus TX, he may not be taking that much less money. And I think that playing with Harden and Smith would be more attractive that another year of watching the Lakers fall apart around him.
Exactly. Morey can rebuild a scrappy, efficient, low-cost second unit on the fly. Getting that second star (which will be A LOT easier than it has been in over a decade at LEAST) is top priority and Morey will do so either this upcoming season or next.
I think randy foye is a free agent. I feel like he'd be an ideal bench player for this team. Instant offense and he could share the back court with Harden with James playing oversized point and foye playing undersized sg
I know this has been beaten to death, but why not make a push for Bosh? (BTW, Aldridge would be my primary target)
So, you think CP3 and Harden would be better than Harden and Dwight or Aldridge? I think CP3 is better than Dwight or LA, but think that finding a complimentary star is pretty critical.
My ideal PF is in this order: 1) Bosh 2) Love 3) Aldridge Getting any of these guys this summer is unrealistic. Which is why we have to use our cap space on signing someone to a shorter contract at a reasonable price so he can be tradable. I say give Jefferson a lucrative deal but for 2 years. He's not the ideal player for this system but would still help us for the short term, and mentor the younger players, and back up both the PF and C position.
players we can sign in the off season that i'd like to fill our needs Josh Smith/Milsap - starting PF Dalembet/Kaman/Splitter/Okafor - backup C Foye/Aminu/Kirilenko/Kover/Brewer - backup Wings
I guarantee that Thomas Robinson will be in the running for most improved player next year! I have only heard great things about his work ethic and his athleticism is A plus. It is only a matter of time that he develops a decent jump shot(and decent free throw percentages). He will be a star one day. it may not be with us since I can see him playing really good the first half of the year and then getting traded., but he will be a star!
Jackpot! address that need with a young long athletic wing like Aminu and wait and see who hits it big in there second year at power forward(TRob)!
