I'm pretty redundant when it gets late because I can't remember if I typed something and spend less time proofreading my posts. :grin: Point being, **** denver and their HCA against countless teams on a back to back this year.
Spurs - Motion offense predicated on ball movement and execution. Key features: Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili and Tim Duncan. These three create high % looks on offense through their sets and are responsible for creating during breakdowns. Most complete NBA team, but nonetheless they're highly dependent on their big three for competitive advantage when the race gets tight. With no Ginobili if the Rockets can play some hard nosed defense and key in on Parker they've got a legitimate chance at pulling off an upset in the play-offs. Duncan can't carry a huge offensive burden for an entire series matching up against Asik while being their defensive anchor too. The problem is we don't play any defense and Harden is a terror on the defensive end..... for us. Denver - Fast break points, open court, try to finish at the rim or take mid-range shots and look for 2nd chance opportunities off of offensive rebounds. Ty Lawson & Danilo Gallinari are usually their go to scorers but they're stacked with interchangeable parts. AFAIK they struggle against big front-courts and great defensive teams because contrary to what many people think on here, Gallinari and Lawson aren't that great at manufacturing volume offense. They can sputter if the game is slowed down but they're the best in the league at offensive rebounding because of Faried and the quantity of shots they take at the rim or mid-range. And while people think Iguodala hasn't lived up to expectations, he's been integral in fueling their fast break points with his elite defense.
Yeah, it is pretty damn annoying, but that's the benefit of their HCA I guess... Maybe the Rockets should play their games outside in the 90 degree heat and 95% humidity...See how those bastards like it.
Denver's home court advantage is too much. If we had home court advantage in the series, I would prefer Denver, but that's clearly not the case. So I would much rather play the Spurs. Quick drive, same climate as home.
I know this had to do with the rockets, but my whole argument was centered around how Denver was playing on pure energy and would come crashing down and wouldn't make it out of the first. I also said we need to avoid the spurs just as much as OKC, and they just swept their hardest possible matchup in the first round with the length of howard and gasol. Not the original bet but I have the right to come out and say things are going the way I saw them? :grin:
Well since were gonna be the first team to come back from a 3-0 deficit I'll take the spurs. Nuggets run just like us but seem to be our kryptonite. It's not fun to watch Iggy guard Harden either. He takes him completely off his game.
