Why is a homeless man playing the lottery? This story just pisses me off. That was probably wellfare money, charity, etc.. that he bought that ticket with. This guy has very little money and a kid and he's playing the lotto. What an *******.

Not enough money to move out of the tent, IMO.

That's almost 5 years worth of rent for a decent 500-600 dollar apartment.

do you suppose the lotto was meant for the rich?

because he needs to put food in his kid's mouth.

I think the lotto is meant for 'idiots' thus the reason it is called 'the idiot tax'

Cause the poor shouldn't have ANY luxuries. And they ABSOLUTELY shouldn't have hope.

Fellate the rich, hate the poor...and the beat goes on...ba da dom bop.

the article says "visiting his son"... doesn't say his son lives in a tent with him or how old he is. The implication I got was that his son was grown.

But then he'll have to buy furniture, pay for water and electricity, and clean.

What BS? That's not politics. Don't bleed the D&D onto other forums.

Yeah you'd think the homeless would generally make sound financial decisions.

Out there living it up on our charity, in that tent!

He's been homeless for 35 years. Even if he got homeless right after high school he's at least 50 years ago. So yeah, the assumption that his son is grown is a good assumption.
Oh, and Tallanvor is an idiot.

While tallanvor sounds like an *******, he does make a valid point in that playing the lottery is not a smart use of money, especially for a homeless man who does not have much to start with. But then again, the smart money also says that a homeless man doesn't make good use of his money to begin with.

Good for him, and he seems like a nice guy seeing as how he wants to help his homies out. I hope they use that money well.

Go soak your head! You are a bigger jerk than you make this guy out to be. He's free to do whatever he decides to do. Last time I checked this was the United States of America.

I say this as someone who despises lotteries and has never spent one red cent on them. IMO, people who are dumb enough to buy lottery tickets should just have it payroll deducted so they don't waste time going to the store. But if people want to be dumb, it's their choice.

So how much yearly income is required to play the lotto?

I may have been breaking the law.
