I know it has only been one big year but Cory Jefferson looks like a legitimate late first round pick.

Winning the NIT is super bitter sweet bc we got hot at the right time and could have done some damage in the tourney. Possibly sweet 16 or so.

Jefferson returning will be much more important than that of frail Austin. Jefferson playing next to a 6'9", 290 lbs guy will be exciting to see.

If Isaiah and Cory both come back next year, watch out.

This was all about Pierre for me too. Disappointing season...but happy to see him leave on a high note like this.

Baylor wasn't good enough to make the NCAA tourney and all the teams they beat in the NIT weren't good enough to make it either and you think they would have made the sweet 16?

Blew out Kansas by 23 the week before. A number one seed.

They were playing good ball. Lost to a ranked Ok State going away on a BS phantom call.. should have went to OT. Baylor has no one to blame but themselves for the Kansas State loss. We would have been in with one more win.

The front court was basically brand new. It takes time to develop chemistry. Winning the NIT shows that. Parity runs rampant in the NCAA hoops. Me saying that they could have been a sweet 16 team isn't that crazy. The notion that they weren't good enough to make it and played teams that also weren't is simplified logic. Whack teams from whack conference took spots. Baylor was easily one of the best 66 teams in the nation.

This yr was probably THE weakest field in the history of the NCAA tourney and Baylor STILL wasn't good enough to get in. Enjoy your NIT title, but as for the NCAA tourney and sweet 16 give it a rest.

I think you're missing his point. I'm super critical of Drew and this year's effort..but...

your point that this was the weakest field in history plays to his point. He's acknowledging they missed, but were playing well as the season ended...and that given the way they were playing down the stretch, it's not unreasonable to think they could have advanced through (what you called) the weakest field in history.

I'm not missing his point and both of you are freakin' CLUELESS!!!!!!

You guys obviously aren't alums, and if you are, you certainly weren't paying attention to what they were doing.

    "They were playing good ball".
    Really?

Here's their results down the stretch.
    1/30 Loss to OU
    2/2 Loss to Iowa st
    2/6 Loss to Ok st
    2/9 Beat Texas Tech
    2/13 Beat W. Virg
    2/16 Loss to KSt
    2/20 Loss to Iowa st
    2/23 Loss to OU
    2/27 Beat W. Virg
    3/2 Loss to KSt
    3/4 Loss to Texas
    3/9 Beat KU
3/14 Loss to Ok St (in the FIRST gm of Big 12 tourney)

They went 4 and 9 down the stretch.
They were 18-14 when the season ended.
This is why they weren't selected to the NCAA tourney.

So they win the NIT and they could have potentially made the sweet 16?
They weren't playing good down the stretch.
They weren't good enough to even get in the weakest tourney in yrs.
So they won a weak ass NIT tourney and now you start popping off that they could have made the sweet 16?

    Whatever.

We were robbed in the first game of the big 12 tournament or we would have been in the NCAAs.

VCU stumbled down the stretch two years ago and 99% of pundits had them missing the NCAA tourney. They ended up advancing to the Final Four.

I'm not saying Baylor deserved to be in the NCAAs, but it's not absurd to say that had they been in, they could've advanced to the Sweet 16. It's possible, especially in a highly-random, single-elimination tournament. I think Baylor is certainly as competent as La Salle and Florida Gulf Coast; just would have depended on their draw and their bounces.

Still find it hilarious that with all the premium prospects coming to Baylor they couldn't even make the tournament.

It happens. Kentucky had a who's who of recruits and a hall of fame coach and didn't make it this year. North Carolina has had no shortage of All-Americans and a HOF coach and has missed the tournament a few times recently. Florida missed it a couple of times after winning back-to-back national championships.

Not to mention our premium prospect this year played like a little girl for most of the season and would get dominated by the softest guys on the court in some games.
