This is the primary reason I decided to go to University of Texas instead of Texas A&M. Liberal (me) and Conservative (them) do not mesh.

This is extremely small potatoes and really shouldn't evoke any moral response either way. Symbolically unflattering to gay and gay-rights friendly onlookers, but no reason to assume all students of a certain demographic want anything to do with their particular student organization. And frankly, the fact that the students themselves voted for it makes it a little more legitimate; as a I think student government has a genuine educational value, in terms of civic and organizational leadership.

I don't know about Macalester but it wouldn't surprise me if student services fees went to a variety of groups of different political leanings.

A&M needed to do something to fit into the SEC.

Just because you disagree with somebody's lifestyle, doesn't mean you hate them.

There are a lot of people who are using this topic to cast stones at those who are religious....likely due to their own insecurities or their jealousy of the peace of mind that many religious people have. So you're seeing a lot of lefties hurl unwarranted insults like "bigot!" around...

Just because you pass a rule allowing people to opt out of funding the LGBT resource center and only the LGBT resource center doesn't mean you hate them. It means you respect them as equals but you just don't want them being funded like equals. Haha

Taxes are not a good example for this situation.

The Student Senate, I'm sure, talked this over with their advisors before this was passed.

This doesn't make them biggots. In fact it doesn't stop students from funding the center at all if they so choose. All it means is that students have a choice in where their fees can go. If anything this is progressive.

This has nothing to do with student groups. It has to do with a building and resources to run it. If the college is serious about this facility, I'm sure they can fully fund it from their own resources. I'm sure NO student fees go to fund the Baptist Student Union building.

no bro, they can't actually pass real thing. It's called "student" government for a reason. It's fake. Faux. Make believe. They also approved a bill that would keep the MSC open instead of undergoing renovation (lol didn't happen) and a bunch of other $h1t no one cares about. Those are probably the only 35 people on campus that would run for a freaking "student senator" position. No one likes them. No one talks to them. They have no friends. They're the type of people I stayed away from.

Here's a picture representation of what I just said if you prefer that:

    Jealousy? LOL.
I don't think harboring a deep hatred for organized religion and wanting it completely obliterated from existence is a symptom of jealousy.

Do they fund any religious facilities?

This is about a facility, not an organization.

They are not taking funding from a single gay student. They are wanting not to fund a facility.

When you can show me evidence that the school is paying for other beliefs buildings, then I would gladly question their actions.

Yes, homosexuality is a belief system.
