Steve Kerr shot over 50% from 3-point land over an entire season FOUR times in his career and ended at 45.4% overall from his career from 3-point. Fredette is nowhere close to being that accurate. Sorry, nice try.
Chuck was undersized, but he knows how to 1) Use his body to create space for his shot. 2) Get into the right place and boxout for rebounds. Our power forwards, both present and traded away this season do not know how to do either one or both.
NAW. WE AIN'T THE SAME ONES COMPLAINING ABOUT SMALL BALL. GET OUT OF HERE. CHUCK HAYES PLAYED CENTER CAUSE WE HAD NO CENTER. CHUCK HAYES IS THE ****. HE WOULD HAVE PLAYED POINT GUARD IF WE HAD NO POINT GUARD. CHUCK HAYES AVERAGED MORE THAN JUST TWO POINTS. HE AVERAGED 4 BALLS PER GAME - TWO BALLS THAT HE HAD BEFORE AND TWO BALLS OF WHOEVER HE DEFENDED. CHUCK HAYES PLAYED SOME NASTY ASS DEFENSE - DEFENSE THAT D-MO, GREG SMITH, T-JONES, ROYCE WHITE, T-ROB COULD ONLY DREAM OF. STOP DRINKING THE HATERADE.
Why are you even here? You obviously know nothing at ALL about basketball. Chuck Hayes made himself into one of the most technically superior defensive players the NBA has ever seen. He was asked to do far and away more than his physical limitations should have allowed him to do, and yet he did them, with heart and passion. Chuck Hayes is the epitome of what we should teach our children to try to be: determined, strong, and willing to work extremely hard to improve. It was a sad sad day when we had to let Chuck Hayes go, but I think we all understand why it had to happen. It would be really nice if we could somehow manage to let him finish his career here, even if it is as a sort of player-coach type of deal where he rarely sees the floor any more. He could be such a fantastic influence on guys like Jones, Robinson and Motiejunas.
As good as Hayes was, we'd be in trouble if he's still the starting center especially at his current salary. It's easy to root for a player when he's earning less. People really LOVE David Lee, Fields, Lin... when they were on cheap contracts.
Chuck Hayes was awesome. The only downfall to his game was when we played athletic Centers that would just outrebound him easily other than that I don't think there was anyone better at individual Defense.
Morey's plan all along was for Chuck to get his money's worth in another team, know that they couldn't properly utilize him, and bring him back to Houston after he got his cash for cheap as our backup C. He WILL retire a Rocket.
I remember first seeing chuck hayes play as a rocket, and honestly I would not believe he would have a long nba career. The guy turned out to be our 6'6 center who can guard 7 footers, have the craziest free throws, and even record a triple double. If he isn't the epitome of an underdog story, than I don't know what is. Him and scola are my favorite rockets from that time, for just being hard workers
Well no crap, Jimmer's only has played 2 years. And compare the rosters that Kerr played on when he shot great. There might be a little discrepancy in talent between what Kerr played and what Jimmer played with, which may have affected the quality of looks that each got. You might want to consider that factor as well.
Response I agree that Jimmer will be a lot better player if given a chance. Keith Smart has a pre-conceived notion of what a star should be and would not have started Larry Bird either.
Response Seems like he would fit perfectly with Rockets and Morey's love for 3 point shooting system. I have a feeling that he would mash really well with Lin.
Our Net Points per 100 possessions for Rockets players during the seasons Chuck Hayes was on our roster (for top 10 players in minutes played during those seasons): Code: 05/06 through 10/11 seasons Hayes: +6.0 (8534 minutes) Yao: +5.8 (8297 minutes) McGrady: +5.4 (7951 minutes) Battier: +4.8 (11912 minutes) Alston: +4.5 (6336 minutes) Lowry: +4.3 (4822 minutes) Scola: +2.7 (9595 minutes) Head: +0.9 (6222 minutes) Brooks: +0.4 (6336 minutes) Howard: -2.0 (4660 minutes)
i was watching a little of the post game conference. hot chick reporter to coach smart," how frustrating is it watching a team doing exactly what you want to do?" they were talking about our 32 assists smart, " it's very frustrating. they have players that create so well and players that are great without the ball (refers back to a comment he made about asik).
