Well, at least opening night was fun. LOL.

Going to be a long season.....worse than I thought if we can't even make contact with the ball. :(

Through 3 games, today's 7th inning was the only inning in which no Astro struck out.

43 K's so far. Currently on pace for 2,322 for the season.

man, these past 2 games were pretty embarassing. I hope Porter knows how to wake this team up. Could be a fluke but doubtful given the youth and inexperience and lack of talent on this team.

    The strikeout numbers are redonkulous.

Why all the hate on Wallace (for striking out)?

This team as a whole has struck out 43 times! 43 times through three games.

They're gonna be bad so I guess it's okay or doesn't matter anyways?

We have to be the only team in ALL of baseball desperate enough to have this beer league player on a team. He's been nothing but HORRIBLE for how long now? I'd rather put Bedard there when not pitching, didn't he get a hit the other night?

We play in the AL. Pitchers don't hit.

Wallace has a hit this season.

That's why I said put him at first on his days off, like after a night of long relief. Anything has got to be better than Wallace. We should really just skip his slot, same ****.

I'm picking on Wallace because he's the only player I'm even slightly familiar with. Now that we're done playing Texas I won't be able to watch games for a while so I expect my hatred towards him for the most part to continue.

Eh, Wallace is more mediocre than horrible. .703 OPS in 2011 and .747 OPS in 2012. There are certainly far worse on this roster. That said, he's 26 years old, so it's pretty evident that he's not going to be any more than average, and his only passable defensive position (as a starter) is first base, where there's a premium on offensive output.

So the second there's anyone else capable of taking those ABs (Singleton?!?), Wallace should go to the bench. I think Brett's best-case profile now is a poor man's Mike Lamb (decent lefty 1B/3B with competitive ABs, but shouldn't start for any length of time). And that's obviously the high end. More than likely, he's an AAAA guy who bounces around. He's certainly not going to be the "hitting machine" that Ed Wade declared at the time of the deal.

    2 1/2 years.

His first year an a half was excusable because he was 23 and a rookie without much major league experience. He spent most of last season at AAA despite the major league club being awful. But he's 26 now and he needs to show some signs of improvement or else there's no point in keeping him around. His minor league numbers aren't bad, but he needs to translate that to the majors. He may just be a AAAA player.

Astros County (@AstrosCounty): The franchise record for Ks in 3 consecutive games was 40, from June 10-13, 2012 and July 6-8, 1995. 2013: 43
