There you have it. Even in a sport women prefer that doesn't require athleticism like volley ball men are just better.

Yes, keep making ridiculous claims. This is one you can hang on to because she's not going to be playing with men any time soon.

An athletic type player like Griner couldn't play in the NBA because her athleticism would become obsolete at the NBA level..

But a women with world class skills.. handles, speed, shooting touch, why not?

I don't think she could beat some taller members on Clutch Fans. 1 on 1 basketball is a different game than 5 on 5. In a team game she has the advantage of catching the ball in the paint and laying it in over guys shorter than her. But I think I would strip her or stop her at least 8-10 feet away from basket where I'm sure she'd brick.

Any guy around 6 feet with good handles and the ability to steal (this is key) could take her 1 on 1. That other girl with the handles on Telfair would be a much better challenge, but Telfair doesn't touch her once on defense because she's a girl.

this is a waste of time...if Louisville was to physical for her....well, Louisville was too physical. There's nothing left to say.

Here are the chances of a female succeeding in each major league:
    NFL: 0.000000000000000000000000000000000003
    NBA: 0.0000000000000000000000000000000000029
    MLS: 0.00000000000000000000000000000000001
    MLB: 0.000000000000000000000000000000001

I see nothing stopping a woman from playing in the MLB or MLS (or European soccer leagues).

The NBA and NFL are another matter entirely (although I'm sure a woman could be a punter or kicker with no problems).

Who would she defend? Everybody and i mean EVERYBODY in the nba has elite atheleticm in some regard. Griner is simply too slow, not strong enough, not athletic enough, to compete in the NBA. You're underestimating the speed/physicality of the game, and the fact the NBA has some of the best athletes in all of sports if you honestly think she has a chance.

I would love to see Cuban waste his second round pick on her but he's no fool.

If he does draft her with like a pick in the 40s you better believe she can play ball because he would never use the pick on her unless she worked out for him. Highly unlikely though, I doubt she has the athletic ability to compete against NBA athletes, dominating women in college is one thing but I'll eat my hat if she can match up with the NBA men.

I'm not a volleyball fan but it does require a great deal of athleticism. Griner would not even be able to play d1 ball. The only sports I could envision women being able to compete with men would be bowling or golf and they would still be at a considerable disadvantage in either of those sports.
Cuban is just looking for some cheap publicity.

There is no way that Griner ever plays in an NBA game. Likewise for any other woman, present or future. Let's face facts here...biologically speaking, men (those who are in good condition) are simply far better than women in competitive sports, especially in athleticism. That will never, ever change. Any guy in decent shape would hold his own (and possibly defeat) Griner in a one-on-one, even if he never played organized basketball for his HS or college.

Even a woman with a terrific outside jump shot would have zero chance to make it in the NBA. 50% of their shot attempts would get blocked.

Like others said, this is just a marketing stunt designed to stir up attention. But it's a silly one, even for Cuban.

Griner will probably be a star in the WNBA, but nobody cares about that league. I'm a bit surprised it hasn't folded yet.

Do they still play with a smaller ball? I though Cynthia Cooper would have the best chance. But playing with a smaller ball would throw it all off.

Well if a team is looking to tank for the rest of the season to get a high draft pick, this would be an easy way to sell some seats. Sign her for a 10 day contract and let her play for a few games. What do the Wizards, Cavs, Magic, Suns, etc have to lose?
