The amount of people who think Parsons is on the same playing field or better than Parsons is hilarious. The production (as in box score only) is only close because Batum has been playing with an injured wrist and has all season. Batum is much better than Parsons, in almost everything. You want to talk about stat sheet stuffers? Batum is the only player this year to earn a 5x5.
Yes I have watched Batum play quite a bit, and I have watched Parsons play quite a bit. I dont think Batum is ALL NBA team good at defense, nor can he guard 4's well.
i don't think Batum is all-defense either. i'd take him over Parsons though. i'm more surprised that Kirilenko is so completely dismissed, looking at the lists.
I didn't say he was a boardline all star right now.... he is in the category of players that are at their peak an all star or in the discussion. I also do not think that Parsons has peaked, when he does he will be in the all star game deserving discussion a season or two.
I think Parsons is a lesser Batum. Not a knock on Parsons in any which way, but they are similar. They can both do so many things well.
That is fair, they are in the same general class. I just like how well Parsons can move to the 4, especially with the direction the league is taking.
The more important question is, where does he rank look wise. Chandler ... ... ... ... ... Everyone else.
I think the better question is what other SF would you trade Parsons for? 1) LBJ 2) Durant 3) Carmelo 4) Paul George Given his salary, I think he's on equal footing with: 1) Deng 2) Pierce 3) Gay 4) Leonard 5) Batum Overall, somewhere in the 8-12 range. Just for fun: Lin - #18-20 PG Harden - #1 SG Parsons - #8-12 SF Smith - #21-26 PF Asik - #12-13 C
Average NBA starting SF 1. LeBron James 2. Kevin Durant 3. Andre Iguodala 4. Carmelo Anthony 5. Luol Deng 6. Paul Pierce 7. Paul George 8. Shane Battier 9. Danilo Gallinari 10. Nicolas Batum 11. Metta World Peace 12. Kawhi Leonard 13. Rudy Gay 14. Jared Dudley 15. Wilson Chandler 16. Chandler Parsons
Parsons is too clumsy with ball. He always tries to point guard and fumbles the ball away. I'd rather have someone like Garcia in the line up who knows his role.
I'd have to go Batum over Parsons strictly speaking on skills. The reason why I choose Batum is because he's more of a go-to player IMO. Batum would be perfect as a 3rd option and Chandler is more of a glue guy missing link. However, if you factor in contract and overall value Parsons wins every time. If we can lock up Parsons for a contract similar to Asik/Lin it would be great.
Parsons is so much better than Rudy Gay it isn't even funny. I would take Chandler over Gallo as well. Nic is better than Parsons imo.
I would say: Lin: ~20 Harden: 2 (Wade) Parsons: ~15 Smith: ~30 Asik: 6 (Howard, Duncan, Garnett, Gasol, Noah)
Isnt parson known for defense....I don't believe Hayward is the best perimeter defender on his team...or am I wrong?
Okay I shall do the entire team Lin: 12-15 (Jrue Parker CP3 Kyrie Curry Russ Rose Lawson Deron Conley Rondo Damian Nash Lowry) Harden: 2 (Wade) Parsons: ~15 (better than Gay & Gallo but worse than Nic) Smith: ~30 Asik: 6 (Howard, Duncan, Garnett, Gasol, Tyson)
in response to parsons being better then batum... not sure why this is far fetched? parsons ppg: 15.1 rpg: 5.4 apg: 3.5 spg: 1.0 fg% .477% ft%: .72% 3p% .381% 36.2 minutes a game Batum ppg: 14.3 rpg: 5.6 apg: 4.9 spg: 1.2 fg% .423% ft% .848% 3p% .372% 38.5 minutes a game Is it really that hard to look up stats?
