    Clippers appear to be struggling but still a near lock for 3rd seed, I'm starting to wonder if that's our best 1st round matchup

    If the Rockets face them and we ended up beating them don't you think thats a lock for CP3 to come over here? :eek:

    Maybe getting them to a seven game series is enough to lure him here

    Didnt want to start a new thread in regards to which playoff opponent the Rockets match up better with...so here goes

    Currently the Rockets sit a game behind GSW...

    GSW has 8 games remaining:
    vs NO---win
    @PHX---win
    vs Jazz---loss
    vs Minny---win
    vs OKC---loss
    @LAL---loss
    vs SA---win
    @Portland---win

    Houston has 8 remaining:
    @SAC---win
    @Portland---loss
    @Denver---loss
    vs PHX---win
    vs Memphis---win
    vs SAC---win
    @PHX---win
    @LAL---loss

    Just based of these predictions the Rockets will most likely end up matching up against OKC...just based on the story lines for Harden vs old team and KMartin vs old team....this would be a really interesting matchup...and im sure many people around the league would tune in just to see the matchup...in the end the games will be close and the better team down the stretch will win the game...Rockets may have a chance to pull off a couple of games against OKC...but I think the Coaching is evenly matched...This i believe is the key, bc in the end the players have more freedom to dictate the game...The Players in OKC are more likely to have less fear against the Rockets and more likely to loose focus during game moments...which could ultimately be their downfall...Talent wise there is no question that OKC is more superior, but in the end its all about who is steering the ship...

    Lin vs Westbrook
    Harden vs Thabo
    Parsons vs Durant
    Smith vs Ibaka
    Asik vs Perkins

    On a more important note, I would hate to see the Denver Nuggets for several reasons...one I think George Karl has dominated Houston statistically(will look at head to head matchups more); two...Denver is just more disciplined as a team and better well coached...3...The Key will be the match between Lawson and Lin(if the Rockets can get the most out of Lin, expect the Rockets to actually compete)...if not, I can see the Nuggets winning 4-1/ or 4-0...As i said before my fear of this match up isnt based on individual players...but the sum of its parts...George Karl, like other HOF predecessors find ways to take away the #1 option and force the #2 to step up...The Rockets may have the only legit superstar in Harden, but Denver plays well as a team because their coach expects them too and that worries me...Mchale throughout the season has shown poor in game mgmt decisions that could cost us in this matchup...

    With all that being said...in what was expected to be one of the worst seasons in Rocket history before everything happened...its finally awesome to no longer be looking forward to the number 14th pick and looking to play meaningful games in April and May...Go Rockets...

    If we start Greg Smith at power forward the rockets can beat any team in this league. Depends on the rotation. Now can we beat the good teams 4 times in a seven game series... We can BUT it we did it might just be in the first round by surprise. We are a young young team so anything can happen but getting to the playoffs would be huge alone.

    Why should we lose against Lakers or Blazers?

    I agree with you. They are very beatable. Indeed, this Lakers team is the most beatable team for over a decade.

    I assume you mean 2nd sees. I hope so. NBA won't let the OKC lose in the first round , but they would the Spurs.

    Agreed. No one expects us to advance in the 2nd round but if i were to choose a team that would give us the best odds of upsetting, i'd go with a not so young and healthy Spurs team. Still think we'd lose though. Again, the main goal of our team this season is to grow and develop our young team. Making the playoffs would and is a huge bonus for us at this early stage of our rebuilding process. Gaining that playoff experience is golden.

    Spark,

    holding on to my prediction.

    GSW will only win 4 more games.

    Rockets will win 5 or 6 either way we will surpass them for the 6th seed.

    (not sure thats the best idea with spurs health now in question )

    Jazz will prob 4 at most, but lakers will be lucky to even wiin 4 more. Jazz hold tie breaker.

    soooooo

    6. rockets
    7 Warriors
    8 Jazz

    (unless the nba ups the favorable calling to the lakers even more to get them in)

    Oh by the way thanks for starting this thread. Its been great just repped you again ; )

    Especially with Ginobili out. I think they will drop to the 2 seed and I don't think we will catch the Dubs. The playoffs could be very interesting for us.

    Have the warriors winning 4 as well. We could still get the 6th seed indeed since we own the tie-breaker against them. To be totally honest, i could care less who we face in the 1st round. We just have to make the playoffs and gain experience. We're not built to contend by any means just yet.

    I try not to stray away from the bigger picture which is to develop our young guns and be players for that 2nd or 3rd franchise player this coming off-season or next. Then we can think about deep playoff runs and contending for championships.

    This season is already a successful one in my book. A team as inexperienced as ours could've easily been a lottery team in the league. Let alone playing in a tough western conference. ;)

    IMO, the magic number to make the playoffs is 45 wins. 4 more red nation!
