The Eagles are signing everyone of our guys. Giving Baltimore a run to be the new Texans of the North.
i dont understand why we didnt grab Darius Heyward-Bey. 1 year for 1.5 million guaranteed is a fantastic deal, and it allows you to take the BPA available in the draft. really disappointed with this one.
I'm curious if they inquired but I still think BPA philosophy is still on the table since WR depth in this draft is pretty good.
the only WRs left that might be a buy low high potential player seems to be either Laurent Robinson or David Nelson? Who do you guys think is left on the WRs market that can help us this YR.. I dont think a Rookie WR (even in the First Round will help this year) I could be wrong though...
Yeah, a rookie WR probably won't do anything year 1 in our scheme. Ramses Barden is available, he fits the Texans WR stereotype.
I think they're going to get their WR in the draft(right or wrong, you can argue). Robinson was good in Dallas, flamed out in Jacksonville; suffered 4(!) concussions last year. FA wide receivers left: Seyi Ajirotutu?(Anyone else remember this guy burning the Texans a few years ago?) Danario Alexander? Anthony Armstrong? Devin Aromashodu? Brandon Banks? Ramses Barden? Deion Branch? Steve Breaston? Deon Butler? Austin Collie? Josh Cribbs? Victor Cruz?(not happening) Early Doucet? Julian Edelman? Braylon Edwards? Derek Hagan? Devery Henderson? Domenik Hixon? Brandon Lloyd? Ruvell Martin? Mohamed Massaquoi? Randy Moss? David Nelson? Ben Obomanu? Roscoe Parrish? Laurent Robinson? Emmanuel Sanders(RFA)? Chaz Schilens? Donte Stallworth? Brandon Stokley? Sammie Stroughter? Matt Willis?
I'd really like to take a shot at Barden. His problem has been his ability to stay healthy, but from a talent and measurables standpoint, he has the tools to be a #2. Def. worth the gamble, but I assume we are out of cap room for anything other than the league minimum. I'd think Barden could get more than that on the open market. But if a WR wants to sign a 1-yr deal with the intention on proving themselves and getting a big payday next year, there's no better opportunity than with the Texans. I hope one of these FA Wrs is smart enough to see that.
Yeah, he's intriguing. I'd look at him, Breaston, Henderson, Hixon, Massaquoi. I'd certainly kick Brandon Lloyd's tires, too. Most of these guys will be one-year and cheap.
Massaquoi is one of my other favorites. And I'm still waiting on Santana Moss to get cut, what gives with that? They don't need him.
Wait, What? So DHB essentially got Shane Lechler money to join the colts.... I'm freaking pissed. Does that idiot coach, idiot GM and idiot owner know that we've trotted Kevin FREAKING Walter out there opposite AJ every freaking year and done nothing about it except mid round draft picks in one freaking draft and a un drafted rookie at the problem? And now a legit number two with upside come available and you let him walk to a division rival for freaking pennines; wait, for less than pennies, for punter money... I give up, these freaking dolts at Reliant can kiss my honkey ass. Last year we signed a vet minimum guy who outpeformed your gig'em all world punter and now we will throw multiple draft picks at the wideout position and they will all ride the pine or just flat out suck while they adjust to the NFL. By the time they are ready to contribute AJ80 will be done. I'm fine with Ed Reed but to sign two positions that are as EASILY filled as punter and fullback for more money than the amount DHB would have cost us is beyond freaking insane. What a joke.
Barden is intriguing and can be had dirt cheap and they guy is huge. He makes 6'4 256lb Cush look like Trindon Holiday LoL
Danario Alexander? This guy is legit. Potential #1 WR. He has been healthy and has produced. I'm surprised he's still a FA
I'm quite sure the reason is not because teams don't want him. He's definitely out of our price range. The Texans should be looking at the next Kevin Walter, the guy they once traded a 7th round pick for and paid peanuts for. Whatever the reason, they stopped trying to find hidden gems like the younger Walter in order to replace him. Now, they basically have to hit a HR because of their failed foresight at a cheap replacement.
Add Cribbs and Edelman to those that I'd look into, also. I've always been intrigued by Cribbs. Great character guy, good on special teams, I'm thinking he can block (if I remember well enough), and he's versatile. Just the kind of guy the Texans usually go for. Not his fault he's been stuck in Cleveland for his career. That's probably been his biggest downfall. They love him there, though.
Easy bro. I think it was a 1-yr $3 mil deal, with $1.5 guaranteed. We don't have $3 mil in cap space.
Don't worry bro, I heard on the radio (610) this morning that the Texans are in trade talks with the Titans for Kevin Walter because he's a plus down field blocker. Kubiak's quoted as saying early round wide receivers take a long time to develop so getting an experienced vet that knows the system would be preferable.
