Haven't been watching Dragic at all, but Lowry has been Lin 2.0 on the Raptors ever since Rudy Gay came into the picture.
You guys know that PER is not actually a real stat right? Its some random formula concocted by a journalist with no background in statistic.
true, plus karoli has an agenda to push. Honestly, I love all three of those guys. Wanted them to have an equally stellar year. and If dragic had been kept here, I would be cheering for him to succeed just as hard.
Lin is the worst defender. I think Kyle is the best passer and floor general. Dragic is the biggest and best finisher. Lin has the best first step. He's the less experienced too... Anyway, Lowry should be out of this discussion. It should be between Goran an Jeremy, and right now... Goran is the best player. We'll see how is Lin's improvement for next season, but he needs to improve to justify Morey's move.
Lin put up a 96 defensive rating last year which is excellent. You have never seen any of those other plays do that. He did it on a team that was bottom 10 in defense, then when he played it became top3 in the league. In Golden State he was the defensive specialist on that team. Lin is the best defender of that entire group. He is ranked top20 in the league in DPAR. Get outta here with the lazy generalizations. You probably think Lin can't go left either just because Screaming A Smith made it up.
I totally disagree with you and I have watched all 3 play. Dragic this year has not been better than Lin, Lowry since the gay trade is a shell of what he was. I think Morey looks pretty good.
i dont even believe Lin will be with the rockets next season. They will shop for a new PG. most likely Chris paul to replace Jeremy to be a better fit with Harden. Rockets management is letting Jeremy play to let his value go up so they could get something decent from off season trading. Why would the Rockets keep him?
I've heard Lowry is battling a knee injury. Not enough to keep him out, but t may be affecting his play.
I think everyone's playing through injuries at this point of the season. Not sure about Lowry's knee, but he has been battling back problems this season I believe.
Advanced stats reach a point where one can always find an specific stat that shows whatever he wants to think... I really have them in mind, I like to read about them, frankly, but my ultimate opinion is always based on what I see on the court. Watching the games... Im sorry but I dont see Jeremy as the most effective defender of them. Probably there exist advanced stats that "prove" this point. Anyway, some of you Jeremy fans need to calm down. Jeremy is ok, I like the guy, and he's not doing bad, but Goran is giving nowadays a better level. Of course Lin has still room for improvement. I think Kyle would still be the best fit for this team, but as I said, consider him out of this discussion since we got Harden thanks to his trade.
I think Lin's a pretty good defender. He still doesn't play screens like an elite defender, but is very active and gets his hands on a lot of balls and can be disruptive to offensive flow. Great outside shooters do have a penchant for playing well against him though. I think that'll come with more experience and time removed from his injury. In any case, Drtg really isn't a a thorough metric. Daryl Morey even said that there are no publicly available defensive metrics that are very good. I'll try to dig up the interview. I forget which one it is.
out of the three The best PG for harden is Lowry. This is a good thing because I believe the Raptors are having trouble with Lowry replacing Caldrone. The offseason could be a good thing for Rockets, because im sure if Rockets front office contacts Raptors front office and proposes a trade as Lin being the centerpiece, they may be able to aquire Lowry back into Rockets uniform.
It's because his PER in October was based on a sample size of one game. You can't really draw many conclusions from one game. Another thing I wanted to add is that Lin's PER suffers because he plays alongside to Harden. The same thing happens when Nash plays with Kobe because Harden and Kobe are both so ball-dominant. This season, playing with Kobe, Nash has been fairly average, scoring 13.7 points on 10.1 FG attempts and 7.0 assists per 36 minutes. However, playing without Kobe, he averages 16.7 points on 13.5 FG attempts and 9.7 assists per 36 minutes. Nash also averages more free throw attempts when Kobe isn't playing. Likewise, when Lin has played with Harden this season, he's averaged 14.0 points on 11.8 FG attempts and 6.4 assists per 36 minutes. Without Harden, he's averaging 17.6 points on 13.3 FG attempts and 8.7 assists per 36 minutes. He also gets to the line a lot more without Harden, 5.0 FTA/36 versus 3.4 with Harden. That said, I still think the team is much better with Lin and Harden, despite Lin's decrease in production.
Doesnt make any sense , youre just stating that Lin is average at playing off the ball next to harden and thats it.
if the Rockets want to maximize the value of Harden, they would get the right pieces and an average off the ball PG is not going to cut it.
Wrong. Lowry is the best defender, Dragic is the worst. Synergy is giving me troubles otherwise I would provide stats to back this up. Kyle is NOT the best passer & floor general Lin is. Lowry passing rating 10.5 http://www.82games.com/1213/12TOR3.HTM Lin 12.7 passing rating http://www.82games.com/1213/12TOR3.HTM Dragic 11.3 Passing rating http://www.82games.com/1213/12PHO2.HTM There was a reason why Jose Calderon started before Lowry (even when Lowry was healthy) despite Kyle superior defensive ability. And also Lin is doing this as the secondary ball handler, Dragic & Lowry are THE pg not A pg. You are right Dragic is the best finisher at 66% FG at the rim. Lin FG% at the rim 63%. Lowry 58%.

Dragic is going through the motions in phoenix. In a different situation where the team is playing for something he plays better. Don't judge him in this throwaway year.
