Finally, a poster with wisdom. If we lose this game and go on to an epic losing streak like last year, I bet people around here would look at this game as the turning point of McFail's ineptness in strategy, substitution, and play calling
J sizzle is right Rockets tonight and in the Clipper's win won despite the coach Coach nearly gave this one away, as we've seen coaching single handedly lose 6 games this year Making the playoffs doesn't make the coaching good. Vinny Del Negro and McHale are bad coaches on very talented teams .
I don't understand this point of view. He's not running a training session. He's "trying to win the game", as he tells Lin. Now, if he feels the second unit is his best option, then okay, fine. But at this point of the season a coach should be focused on doing what he needs to do to put the game away rather than develop new players at the risk of the W.
McHale is like Vinny Del Negro Both are BAD coaches on very talented teams Making the playoffs doesn't actually make them good coaches Morey is GM of the year but his coaches are anti-Moneyball .
I disagree. No bad coaches make the playoffs, only average. Both Del Negro and Mchale are average coaches.
I think so many of you are so insecure about McHale's coaching that you need to defend him EVEN when the Rockets win and he does something exceedingly stupid that seriously jeopardizes how secure the win appeared. Just accept he pulled a reckless and stupid one, be glad time ran out fast enough, without needing to defend every stupid decision he made. It is obvious.
this thread should be renamed the LOF thread with a sign out front: You must have registered after June 2012 to partake in the idiocy. This thread is stupid, just remembered why I never come in the GARM anymore. Anyone who thinks this team is winning in spite of McHale doesn't understand basketball and clearly only started watching in recently- I'd venture to say around February 2012. Besides, do any of you even know who Kevin McHale is? One of the greatest to ever play the game, so I'm pretty sure he knows more about basketball and player management than this group of internet coaches. Out.
Yup, February 2012, early enough to see the playoff run collapse playing small ball and poor rotations, plus fall-out with Lowry.
"It's not about (Jeremy) being too passive. It's about whoever is calling the shots for the team, and that would be Kevin McHale, making it known that Jeremy has got to have the ball in his hands." -some guy the guy who said this probably doesn't understand basketball either. you're right, you should just stay outta here.
It was a very stupid move. When your a young team, sometimes you cant just say a win is a win. Players are still learning. They will make mistakes on the court. They dont need a coach who will consistently make questionable decisions. I agree. I would like to see McHale go but for who. A team needs a coach whose system will play to their strengths and not the other way around. Sense the Rockets constantly change their roster, its hard to tell what their strength will be. I know its a long shot but what if the Rockets get Howard. This run and gun offense will have to go.
Who said that? It must be Michael Jordan. It must be. It better ****ing be. Knows basketball more than Kevin 'the black hole' McHale? The WHITE Hakeem The Dream Olajuwon? GTFO.
McHale is the Jeremy Lin of coaches. People root for him to fail, make excuses when he wins and when he doesn't have his star player he wins anyway.
Wow, this is an embarassing post. This thread was made in the midst of Lowry hating McFail, Dragic bolting too, the Rockets about to make an EPIC collapse to end the year. McFail has never been to the playoffs despite coaching many years. Sampson is a disgraced college coach. This Rockets team was built by Morey who is GM of the Year. It is underperforming. You have posters on this page saying that no matter what, teams that make the playoffs cannot have a bad coach even though it's widely agreed that Nel Negro is a bad coach on the Clippers. McHale is the same situation. This team could be so much better with a coach who is actually good
I would promote Finch to HC. He's the brains on that staff for the offense. He's had prior success in other leagues. He's analytical. He has run multiple different systems to suit his roster, meaning he's smart and flexible in a practical way.
McHale grew up being doubted. Despite having arguably the best post moves along with Hakeem, he was stashed on the bench. McHale started in less than 50% of all the games he played throughout his career, because coaches hated him and wanted to minimize his impact. However, McHale was so good that even when limited to a career minute average of 31, he became a Hall of Famer. Kevin McHale is Jeremy Lin before Jeremy Lin.
