This sucks. One of the nicest guys ever and a whole bunch of ties to Houston football having coached 3 Houston football teams that I can think of. On top of that, he was a pretty good football player, too.

I always wondered what his true responsibility was when he was the Oilers coach. He had fallen in love with the run and shoot later in his coaching career (thus, he wasn't the true architecht of it)... and Gilbride pretty much ran the plays outright. We also know the defense was handled by Eddy/Ryan.

I guess he was the glue that kept it alltogether... and everybody had nothing but praise for his overall makeup/composure.

I wish him well... he will always be a Texas legend.

Pardee was a Man's man. Tough as nails as a player. Father figure as a coach. RIP Coach Pardee.

    Or his name.

Those Oiler teams were lots of fun. Until the playoffs, of course.

I loved watching the post-game shows with Jack and Giff Nielsen on Sunday nights after Oilers games. One of my earliest memories as a sports fan. RIP Jack.

Good man. Cancer took him too early.

    We will miss him

Wow. Gallbladder cancer. That is very rare, especially in the U.S.
