Seconded...Jeremy was running the offense the way he saw fit, and Omer was a defensive monster and finisher. This looked nothing like a McFail run team, until the 4th quarter that is...
Always thought and continue to think that he is an incompetent coach. only reason I started this thread way back
Such is the nature of the Rockets, I suppose... Rockets Win = 100% credit to the players. They won in spite of Mchale Rockets Loss = 100% credit to the coach. The players simply couldn't overcome the horrendous coaching of Mchale.
Rockets won tonight in spite of McHale's idiocy. What could have been a comfortable blowout ended up a 5-point win that was far too close for comfort. If he pulls moves this abysmally stupid in the playoffs this team is toast. I've been saying all season that the team is making McHale look good, not the other way around. Put this team in the hands of any capable coach who actually runs plays and has smart rotations and we are a higher seed.
How many times has McHale taken any credit for losses or poor decisions this season? Zero by my count. He always puts the blame on the players after every loss. Lack of energy, effort, ball got sticky, blah blah. So if all the losses are the fault of the players according to McHale then credit for wins should go to the players as well.
This was nothing to do with Who was sitting, it's basic coaching. Your starters are your best players. Your bench is generally your worst. When the lead is up, you play the bench to rest the starters. When the lead is in jeopardy, you bring in the Starters unless the Bench is playing exceedingly well. It's coaching 101 and you see it all through the NBA on Every team in almost every game. That he went against this in the middle of a TIGHT race for play off positioning with only 9 games remaining in the season is reckless and stupid. I don't care if the starters are from the Bobcats or the Rockets, if you're in the position that we're in in terms of play off seeding and this late in the season, you do NOT gamble with the Win. You can argue resting the Starters all you want, but a Win is the Win. You take them When you can because you never know if you'll get blown out by Sacramento or go on a losing streak due to injuries, etc. Gambling with the Win is bad coaching. No matter how you cut it.
Not happy with a win? I could've guessed that... Lots of people have been pent up around here lately with our winning. They need to make loud noises in a padded room every now and then. Even if the padded room is our forum...
Well....if Mchale is simply dead weight out there who does us absolutely no good whatsoever, I guess Morey should just fire him right now and replace him with cardboard box. We'd save a ton of cash and wouldn't even skip a beat on the court!
Pretty much. Tell me what does McHale do other than sub players in and out at head-scratching times? Rockets run no plays. The offense is give the ball to Harden and McHale saying "push the tempo" "run" "pass, pass, pass" When was the last time McHale ran a play out of a timeout or made an in-game adjustment to win a game? The talent of the roster has been covering for his inept coaching all season.
You have not visited the playbook thread all year have you? Understandable. It didn't have "Lin" in the title...
It's like the movie Moneyball Smart analytical GM 2 moronic coaches who refuse to play the roster correctly GM trades Douglas away, same inept coaches proceed to think Beverly a Russian league import is just as good This is the most underperforming team in the league by Pythagorean expected wins It isn't the youth. I've seen every game, at least 6 losses are directly attributable to horrific coaching decisions An analogy. Jerry West built a great Lakers team but the roster underperformed until Phil Jackson came in. Same idea. This roster should be a 4 seed if not for terrible coaching Morey is GM of the year, his coaches are terrible. Promote Finch to HC
