giddy calling someone disingenuous LOL Barkley grew up a dirt poor black kid in Alabama. You don't think he experienced racism? You think your wealth prohibits people from experiencing racism? How stupid is that? You've got to be joking but I know you're not because your history is full of ridiculous statements and arguments here.
I would hazard a guess that, in your particular case, it is stuff like this that is your biggest obstacle to employment and not, necessarily, your age.
You turned an argument of race into one of age, a problem all races share. This is part of your change the goal posts giddy logic..
Hey you're the one making grandiose generalizations and changing my statements to suit your aim. You tried to turn my specific comments about two guys who have succeeded immensely into a statement about an entire race. Generally, racism keeps people down. Seems like Barkley and Chappelle are pretty high-flying... and have been for most of their adult life.
I got the job I wanted and had I been allowed to interview at the other places, I probably would have gotten most of those other jobs as well.... Giddyup Magick What is it with you Lefties who feel the need to decimate anyone and everyone with whom you disagree? Insecure?
I didn't turn anything into anything. I was disproving a grand generalization that FB (like you) was trying to make about old, white guys rule the world.....
The focus was on the white, not the old. Agism affects all races. You tried to flip it around for your own BS purpose like you tend to do. You really dont fool anyone.
Ridiculous. You've claimed that they've not faced racism because they're successful. It's a preposterous assertion. Talk about disingenuous.
All the nonsense in one post. FBI talks about how old white guys don't get discriminated against, obviously inferring racial discrimination since this is a thread about racism and then you try to spin it to age discrimination. THis is your MO pretty much and then you have the audacity to claim disingenuous behavior. That's hilarious.
So if there is a rich black man, it means there is no racism against any blacks? And if an old white guy gets passed over for a job it's because he is white and not because they want someone younger? I think people are trying to find any way they can to avoid confronting the reality of racism in the world. This country has taken large strides forward, and in many work places, you can succeed as a minority and succeed well. But there is still some racial discrimination going on and any amount of racial bigorty is still too much.
Ageism certainly exists. But it isn't a barrier to whites. Also you are just taking a guess at why it happened. You don't know why it happened. I can imagine your reaction if a black applicant complained that he never called for interviews because of racism based on a guess. You'd be up in arms lashing out at the person who made that charge.
Like I said, there are instances where it could happen. But those aren't the norm. Also just because some firms end up with all African American lawyers doesn't mean they are prejudiced. I'm not saying that they aren't, just that isn't a definite. It could for sure and I'm certain it happens. It's just that of all the law firms or whatever businesses there are out there, most aren't run by minorities.
In every instance old, white guy was used... never just white guy. Talk about moving the goal posts! Remember, old white guys run the world?!
I entered into this whole fray because YOU, among others, use the terms racist and racism too freely and lightly. An old man uses an objectionably word and you are ready and eager to rid the world of his public service. Racism is a pattern of judgments that holds people down and prevents them from succeeding or would prevent them if given their head-- thus my examples of George Wallace and Louis Farrakhan instead of this Alaskan Young. This old Alaskan senator is not in their category yet you happily slurred him just the same. His remarks were regrettable. He apologized. There has been no evidence to surface that this is a recurring slight of his so it is not worthy of this totem you have tried to build as you capitalize on his mistake.
The term wetback has never been innocent, it's an offensive way to describe an illegal alien and just because it was used by the Federal government does not make it okay! It was offensive then and it's offensive now! If it was acceptable it would still be used by the government! There is no difference in the words, both are offensive and are and were used to belittle and demean both races. Both George Wallace and Louis Farrakhan were and are transparent, that is they are whom they SAY they are, that is the reason that they will never apologize! I don't know if he is racist or not but what I do know is that he is a politician and you do know what politicians are good at right (stealing and lying)! So they are not the most honest and transparent people on the planet. (P.S.) I find it odd that you would use the expression (lynch mob) while defending what you believe. .......... .......... ..........
Granted but my guess is an educated one. I talked with people. I read their email replies. I saw the looks on their faces when I showed up to request an interview. Anyone who actually knew me was eager to talk to me about employment. There were two places that I had worked at quite a bit. I got offered the job of my choice at School A. My second choice (School B) ended going to a much younger guy who was a great worker. That school hiring him broke what I was told was their "rule" about rewarding "seniority." I had worked at that school for about a year and a half more than he had... but he was about 35-40 and I was not... He was well qualified and deserving but they leap-frogged him over me. It may have just boiled down to one person's preference. That I will probably not ever know. Teachers at School B keep asking me when I am coming to work there.... so it's not like I was not valued by some that I worked with. Politics. You are "guessing" far more than I am.
You're just a waste of time. If he had said simply white guy in a thread on race you would have detailed discrimination against guys. It's laughable.
