They can pick up his options and he will never see free agency, meaning if he plays well it won't be a contract year.
no relationship btw a better player and TO #. you can say the more time a player has the ball, the high possiblity he may turn over. of coz, if you had the ball but do nothing, no matter how long you hold the ball, TO most likely won't happen.
I agree. Also Beverley has been a surprisingly effective three point shooter and his defense is excellent.
Bev is a top ten back up PG other then J.Bayless, bev has out played every back up PG Houston has went up against in the last 7 games
No. There is a direct correlation between how good the player is and high turnovers. Guys with high turnover numbers are almost always great players. This is an absolute basic tenet of basketball.
By that definition, Beverley is going to play hard every year of his contract... and Lin does not have that motivation to "play hard" over the same span.
the logic is that a better player has the ball in his hands more than other players on his team. let's make an assumption. if a better player touches the ball only once the whole game, how many TOs does he have? the worst case is one. do you see what i am talking? let's use rox for example. if harden plays off the ball alot more than he is currently doing and let lin handle the ball most. who will have more TOs? clearly lin will have more. but it won't mean lin is a better player.
Not really. Could be a trend that the more aggressive players have higher turnovers, or players who play more, shoot more, dribble more, etc. It's a result of style of play, not an indication of greatness haha.
The rockets is a bad defensive team, so Pat Bev is likely more valuable than AB since Pat can play a good defense. But as a NBA player, I can not image that AB is not good as Pat. AB offensive skills are likely not badly needed as Pat Bev's defensive skills.
exactly and that's what an effective bench player should do - when you're starter isn't effective, you should be able to come in and not lose much, or else you shouldn't even be on the team! bench players are expected to come in, keep the lead (if there is one), and as a bonus, provide a spark off the bench against the other team's bench. let's just hope our young starters (lin or anyone else) are effective more often than not.
in other words - not lin. in your opinion, even with higher upside, do you think lin will ever be a good fit on this team? personally i think a point next to harden will need to be one that is a great distributor that can get create shots for others and get others going. i think a 3 pt shooter isn't really as important - a decent one, yes, but we have plenty of other 3 shooters on the team all the way down to our stretch 4's. asking harden to be a primary scoring and distributing option is too much for him to handle. he is a much better scorer than he is a pg that looks to get others going. he is a willing passer, yes, but for him to be effective, you shouldn't ask him to second guess whether he should try to score or whether he should get x player involved in the game. that's a PG's job. i think lin can do it. his TO's have cut down a lot this year and the 6TO game he had is now more an exception than norm.
Hard to say; haven't seen much of Brooks 2.0. If we get a good look at the most recent AB version we could make a better judgement. Beverley definitely appears better at defense. Can Brooks still "light it up?" Don't know. Loved him when he was here before; really sad and mad to see him go.
you're right. the style also has impact on TO. for axample, guard attacking may have more TOs coz you get into the teeth of opponent defense. low post attacking also add more TOs as you work inside other team defense territory.
Why is asking Harden to be the primary scorer and distributor too much? Most elite scoring wings do handle both roles, from LeBron, to Kobe to Wade to McGrady to Roy. Lin already fits in on the Rockets, he just needs to be more consistent.
depends on which one of the two between lin and bev is harder to get. after seeing lin's handful of great games and good amount of "good" games, it's hard to let that go so early in his career. it feels like we've seen plenty of beverley's come and go through the years. but honestly, unless it's for a superstar, lin will never get traded. you can't discount a player's fan following and trade based strictly on skill set. you have to look at the total value of a player. if you're having this hard of a time debating between the two players based on skill set alone, then it shouldn't even be a debate if you consider the total value of a player.
well, lebron has the ability to be current day magic johnson if he so choose to so not really fair comparing harden to him. as for other elite wings like kobe and wade, yeah on a given night if they choose to focus on playing PG role, they've done very well at it. but why would you waste a scoring talent like harden and have him play pg when he is obviously the best scorer on the team? have him focus on scoring and doing it efficiently, instead of asking him to play different roles one night to another, or different roles on the same night. and have someone else just as capable of a PG focus on distributing the ball and getting others involved.
