Eh? Okay, try this then. In the equation that is evolution, where does homosexuality succeed? Or what value does homosexuality have?
what logical reason would lead something to evolve to become gay when evolution's goal is to survive and breed?
And you also know what they'd do to a woman in those countries if she tried to stand up for herself or ask for equal rights. What is your point? That we should be more like those countries ?
You're right. No gay people have ever had kids... Just last week on a Howard Stern replay show, they had Siobhan, a transgender person who claims to have been born a woman with "boy parts" for his/her entire life. Oh yeah, she has two daughters as well. Now do you understand how "gay glitches" could be passed on?
You realize that negative traits can get passed on as well, right? Not everything that happens in evolution is a success. Lots of mutations are the opposite of helpful and would be hard to describe as having "value." **I am not saying homosexuality is a negative trait.
True, but homosexuality will NEVER be part of the evolutionary plan. Again, the only thing good about homosexuality is it is two people loving instead of killing each other. That much I can fully respect.
Homosexuality won't be part of the evolutionary plan, no- but I think modern day society strays so far away from the "plan" that it doesn't even matter.
Except in the concrete example I gave you from the Howard Stern show, the gay person did procreate. His genes got passed to two heterosexual daughters. How you can argue that that is independent of evolution, I cannot say.
are you saying he had surgery to become a girl and had kids? because that's not natural and doesn't help your argument. so yea, i am right
We've seen what happens when man takes over and desregards both God and nature...and it's not very pretty. But I undertand my ugly may be your pretty.
I agree with everything Carolla says here <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/jLijqDBUac0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
You don't seem to have a firm grasp on evolutionary theory, especially with respect to kin selection. If I help my siblings pass on their genes and help them raise their kids, further passing on those genes, it also passes on MY genes since I share them with my siblings. Haldane famously joked that he would willingly die for two brothers or eight cousins since that would genetically equal a full share of his own DNA. Those genes get passed on. There is also most likely an epigenetic component to homosexuality where environmental factors affect the developing fetus. This can be stress, population density, food supply/nutrition, etc. and it can cause a change in the phenotype without altering the genotype via DNA methylation, etc. The birth order effect is an example of this. There are several studies that show each older brother increases chances of younger brothers being homosexual. The likely mechanism is, again, epigenetic (hormonal signals during development being the trigger). It reduces competition, both for mates and for resources (for offspring). Combine those two factors and it's quite easy to see how the tendency gets passed on, if you know a bit about how biology actually works.
Semantics! It's become a battle over a word, instead of a battle for equal rights. A marriage or civil union under law =/= marriage under God. Because of that lack of distinguishment, some Christians might feel that supporting equal rights for gay couples/families is the same as condoning homosexuality (does it really?). Then how is supporting "marriage" for atheists, buddhists, muslims, mormons, jews, etc. any different?
