People read too much into the "youngest" team in the nba. It's just the average age. I would guess that at least 2 of our 23 yo or younger players will be gone by next year. Harden is only a year younger than Westbrook and two than durant, and those guys will be in our conference for a long time. (how old is Ibaka?) and 9th seed + experience does not equal anything. If all stays the same then maybe, but while we do have cap space, so does Dallas and Utah so they could also improve. Plus I think Minnesota can be a playoff team next year. And I seriously doubt a single team ahead of us right now will miss out on the playoffs next year. And Portland plus 1 year experience and another lottery pick? Nah, if it was the beginning of the season and our record was 0-0 I would be proud no matter what cuz of all the uncertainty. But if we give up the lead we have right now and miss the playoffs, then it is a bust. Tmac let his team give up a 3-1 lead against the pistons, and they all said he's got so much time, he'll lead a team past the first round.

5-5 is possible if Harden is healthy. It won't be easy by any means.

Nitpicking here, but there is no 9th seed. There are 8 seeds and then the lottery.

    It's 9th place, not 9th seed.

    /nitpick

If it's not that big of a deal then why hasn't it been done before?

What is just as big of a deal is how fast a newly assembled team (perticularly one lacking in experience) has come together. It took the Heat most of a season to figure out how to play together. The Lakers with all of their new people still havent figured it out.

But it's no big deal. Hmmmmm.

K didn't mean to upset people. But the heat were two games away from the championship. The analogy doesn't apply.

What the lakers are doing is actually quite impressive. I'd rather a team dig themselves out of a hole then build a lead and then crumble. Plus the obvious fact that theyve dealt with an array of injuries and are only three losses behind us and will most likely end up ahead of us.

Another point with the whole experience thing is that we're likely add another two players this summer, are we gonna use lack of experience together as an excuse again.

I'm just saying a) if the rockets fall out of a playoff spot then it's a huge bust; pessimistic or not there's no denying that
And b) being ranked 9th in the conference and being young doesn't cut it for me, with good reason, we seem to fall short every year I don't even think its fair to call me pessimistic at this point, I'm just a realist.

Even if we add say jsmith, if this current team cant hold onto its lead this year, spurs clippers Okc denver GS will still be ahead of us barring injuries (which can hurt us as well), I would take the lakers and mavs ahead of us two. Lakers may be a year older but they will have just as much familiarity, plus a chance to add more role players. Mavs clearly would have been better than us this year if dirk didn't miss two months, and they have cap space. That leaves us competing for the final spot with Utah (who also has cap space), Minnesota (if healthy they are deeper than us) and Portland (here ill say that we should be better than them)

Rick Adelman and Phil Jackson don't have playbooks either. Outside of inbounding plays, adjustments out of timeouts and last second plays there are many offenses that rely primarily on the players running the same sets and adjusting according to the defense. When the offense is stagnant it is more lack of chemistry than bad play calling.

    This is basketball not football.

    1. Rockets are not 9th they are 7th and trying for 6th.

    2. Lakers have 2 probably 4 sure fire hall of famers on the team and everyone considered them heavy favorites for the West and a lot considered them favorites to de-throne the Heat as Champs. Are you really trying to force feed the oppinion that what the Lakers have done is more impressive than what the Rockets have done? Really?

    3. Common sense tells us that the Rockets will be better next season even with out additions based on the fact that some many contributors have not come into their prime yet and they are still learning each others games. The Mavs will be older, the Lakers will be older etc...

K you didn't read my posts clearly. Not gonna bother going back and forth but will just say my points were referring to if the rockets crumble down the stretch and miss the playoffs
