are you sure Brooklyn is better?

anyway, it doesn't seem like we disagree on some specific point, it's just that you want more boards and i like it the way it is for the reasons i mentioned.

From the past few months Asik has displayed a better post game than Chandler ever has though.

I would love to take both. Marc Gasol as the starter and Omer as backup. We would sooooo rock at the center position.

The center position has truly fallen off if 14 and 7 gets you best in league

Omer Asik has been everything the Rockets hoped he would be. He is an elite defender and rebounder. In truth, I think Asik is a better defender than Gasol.

However, the Rockets offense requires post players that can finish inside on the screen and roll. Often times when the Rockets offense has broken down, it has been because defenses do not need to respect the post finishers inside. Gasol would finish most of those opportunities and I suspect his scoring and rebounding would increase in Houston's system.

This is why I believe that Asik may well be dealt prior to his contract being complete. I would not be surprised to see Asik moved in a deal to bring in a second star and then the Rockets sign Pekovic.

Tbh, i'd say Duncan is the best center in the league.

But obviously it's a down year, the best two centers from last year are injured.

If Marc started on our team he'll be averaging Omer's rebound numbers easily.

I wouldn't say the gap is huge. Wash defensively IMO. Wash rebounding. Chandler is definitely better on offense.

But Chandler vs Asik including contract is close. Might even take Asik.

With the current rules, it's hard to completely dominate in the post as a center. The offense is just so much more guard dominant and now 3 point heavy.

Marc Gasol is one of the greatest big man passers ever. He's amazing on defense. And he's solid in the post. He does everything really well.

Asik for sure. Not only does he give us felxabilty financially but he is still a little raw. Once he works on his post up game and free throws he will be a 16 - 12 guy which is more than serviceable for any big man.

He is still very young & is still developing his skills.

10 -12 at what he is earning is already a bargain for a big in the nba.

And 4 assists on a team whose pace would make JVG proud. Memphis half court offense operates best when they run it through Gasol. This doesn't show up on the box score, but you better believe the Rockets coaches would drool over such an offensive option to make us that more efficient in the half court.

Is it coincidence that Randolph is having career years rebounding since he's been playing next to Gasol?

Having a low post big man will do wonders for our half-court offense, which is currently sub par.

Harden and Lin don't need to constantly drive into the paint, causing wear and tear on their bodies, if they have a Marc Gasol or Roy Hibbert type, inside man who can break down the defense just by standing under the basket.

    Maybe Zbo beasts the boards.

I'll take 8 boards from a center if he scores ans passes like Gasol.

I'm not hating on Asik, though. One of Morey's real success stories.

I can appreciate the efficient-contract argument, but really you have to spend your cap money somewhere. Parsons is probably the best small forward per dollar in the league too. But, if you applied this argument to every position, eschewing premium players to maximize the efficiency of every contract, you'd end up with a lot of cap space and a decent but ultimately pedestrian team. You have to splurge somewhere and pay a premium to get the best player over the cost-efficient player.

Gasol is one of the few centers I would rather have than Asik.
